Rooney - 2 B Sold

He's got 1 year left come summer.
So if he isnt sold in Jan, then they run the risk of Rooney paying the 5mill to buy his remaining year out.
And with 1yr left anyway, and knowing he wants out, the fee will already be much lower.

if he cant be talked around then he must be sold in Jan, if not tell him he will sit the whole season out if he refuses to go. if he does not go then he can buy himself out for 5mil (so we are told) and then sell himself for 30mil and become the best paid player in the world... he also has a rouge agent working with him who will no doubt be pushing that down his throat... i think this is all generated by his agent who see's the biggest pay day of his life.

It's 8/1 for him to be playing for Chelsea next season and abramovich has said he would match and better any wage offers from city or Madrid and better and transfer offers.

Both can afford the realistic ceiling limit for Rooney, it's just what that ceiling limit can be without ****ing off the rest of the team. And ultimately of course, where he personally would rather be.

If you get Benzema + 20million I will eat my arm. Benzema + £5m or £10m, tops

Benzema isnt proven (yet) at the highest level - admittedly he wasnt given much of a chance last season at RM, but he isnt exactly "in" favour

Rooney = Benzema + another RM player (midfielder) + £20m is about right (RM need to get a few players off their wage bill, and Utd need players+ cash otherwise money will just disappear and little if no team investment will be done)

Cant see him going to Chelsea (direct title contender, plus if it is media intrusion Chelsea wont be any less "in the eye of the storm", and in reference to my comments above, Utd are unlikely to get any decent player swaps)

Rooney's cash value is £20m-£25m (in January, almost nothing next summer), Benzema is worth that alone, you'd be lucky to get him + cash but you certainly won't get Benzema + player

rooneys stock has dropped and some of the big guns would rather chance him running out of contract and offering him big money. what we need is rooney to come out and say what the problem is... that will rule out certain clubs...

i think he has had enough of england, had enough of the press and would not surprise me if he moved abroad and announced his international retirement!

I hope he goes to Man City

That would happen if Real really wanted him but they dont and they can just wait dropping Rooneys value

If he moves to a rival Premier League team, ie Chelsea or Man City, then it can only be about £££. If he doesn't want to sign a contract because he feels that the media spotlight is shining on him too much and he wants a fresh start, then there are only 2-3 teams in Europe who could realistically sign him. It's all still very strange. He hasn't had a falling out with Ferguson and can't claim that he wants to move because we haven't signed any big players because in August when he got his agent to relay the message onto the club, there were still weeks left in the transfer window and Ferguson is hardly likely to keep him privy to his transfer targets.

No doubt he'll talk soon about his reasons. I'm hoping they are personal issues rather than greed. Either way I still don't want to see him in a Man Utd shirt again. Ferguson has shifted all this focus back onto Rooney, and I think the fact Ferguson told him to respect the club no matter what suggests that he expected Rooney to play up, which he has done already by lying about injuries.

If Rooney doesn't put on the shirt again, what will happen to him? There is still a long way to go before the window opens in January. I personally can't see him playing again, he would get lynched at Old Trafford after yesterday's interview, unless he comes out with his side of the story pretty sharpish. But on the other hand, I can't see Ferguson letting him rot in the reserves/on the bench for the best part of three months.

Its a tough call, but I do feel that Ferguson would not have come out and said those things yesterday without some kind of rational behind it.

The Real Madrid of old would no doubt have spunked £20m and Benzema on getting Rooney, as you know they do love to spend over the odds on players. But, as I linked to the other day (in the league thread? Can't find it now), the director came out and basically said "What's the point? We have Higuain, Ronaldo, Di Maria and Ozil", whilst Mourinho has been largely cagey about it too.

That's not to say they wouldn't be interested, just that I reckon they'd drive a harder bargain.
