I said it many times and not so long ago "Be careful what you wish for!". Those Sky educated muppets who shouted me down, are you happy now? Only positive from tonight is that I ask politely, "Please NESV, can you sack this fraud now?".

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson: "It was a bad day at the office, there was plenty of effort but no end product and the players are very disappointed in there. The fans have left angry and that's understandable. However, it would be dangerous to clear a lot of players out on the basis of one game. We wanted our renaissance to start today, but it hasn't happened. Panic would be the wrong thing to do but I'm not the sole arbiter of that."

How many time are we going to have to hear these same excuses before something is done? He is well out of his depth.

Based on the players playing for Liverpool these days I don't think he's out of his depth at all ;)

@Geormajesty: 8 of 14 from tonight played in 4-0 against Real Madrid at the same ground.

Roys post match:

Under-fire Roy Hodgson has blasted Liverpool's supporters for not supporting the team after his side suffered another humiliating defeat at the hands of Wolves.

Mick McCarthy’s Wanderers heaped further misery on the Anfield club after Stephen Ward’s goal condemned them to their eighth defeat of the season.

The home fans were understandably angry about the loss to the side who, before the match, were bottom of the Premier League, and made their feelings known during the game and at the final whistle.

Chants for Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish rung around Anfield and a chorus of boos greeted the defeat but Hodgson insists it is nothing new and asked the fans to keep supporting the club in the bad times.

He said: "I'm getting used to the negativity. Kenny [Dalglish] was a rival for the job and it was given to me. He's a Liverpool legend.

"But I don't like it. It's the Kop's way of showing they are not happy with what the team is doing. We've had to live with negativity ever since I came here.

"The famous Anfield support has not really been there – there were problems with the owners and they have been singing for Kenny.

"I can only hope these 'fans' become 'supporters' as well because this is a time when the club needs support.

"The negativity does affect confidence."

Hodgson revealed he was disappointed with how his players reacted after an extended break because of the winter weather disruptions.

"Disappointing is the buzzword at the moment. There is not a stronger word than that," he added.

"We came here hoping we would fly around the field and play well but we did the opposite. It's as bad a team performance as we've given, certainly here at Anfield.

"Rather than a disappointing 0-0 we let them in to score for an even more disappointing 0-1. That compounded the problem.

"Credit to Wolves, their gameplan was good. They won challenges. I don't think we had the tempo to our game to say we deserved anything more than we got."

Despite the lacklustre defeat the former Fulham boss insists his side are desperate to show the fans they can move up the table.

He added: "It's a sad way to end 2011. We were desperate to show the supporters we can move up the table and we let them down.

"They made that perfectly clear to us. I can only empathise – if I was a supporter I would be extremely disappointed.

"But I've seen times like this. I have belief in my own ability, the players are working hard to bring me and the club success.

"It's going to be picking them up after they didn't do the job tonight."

Blaming the fans .. nice touch

Utter awful performance, We seem to do hoof it tactic half game and i dont by the excuse we were marked too much sorry the players didnt try to pass it or get around just kicked it any direction.

All the team played badly, Roy did his subs too late, Gerrard should not of done 90 mins. Konchesky showed yet again he is useless (Take a hint roy he was boo`d off!!) Aurlieo is fit so play him from the start.

Roy picked a good side tonight imo however he doesnt or hasnt got any of the players to play any better, He isnt improving their confidence by the looks of things which is his bloody job he does imo need to go i didnt think he was right man for the job to start with and i still dont now

Another loss, more finger pointing by Roy

He's blamed the board, the fans for protesting against the board, Rafa, the squad, Rafa again and now the fans for a second time. Humble? No! Up his own ass? Yes!

I despise the clown.

However, it would be dangerous to clear a lot of players out on the basis of one game.

Did he honestly say that?!? How can he realise that the fans don't want the players gone, it's him they want gone, what a muppet!! Even I feel sorry for Liverpool fans right now.

Time to sack him now imo. We are now 12 points behind 4th place, the champions league has imo now gone, I don't see us catching up 12 points on the current top 4. The season in terms of entry back into the CL is now a right off and we are sitting 3 points above relegation. The second half of the season is dead and buried before its started.

Time now to hold up hands and admit that for one reason or another , be it lack of ability for him to inspire the players, or the tactics , or whatever, its just not worked out. Let him go, pop Dalglish in as caretaker manager and begin looking at a long term manager. With the second half of the season now pretty much scuppered we have plenty of time to mull over a new manager and get him in place ready to buy players in summer. KK can hold the reigns for an indefinite period until the new manager is appointed, he certainly can't do any worse than Roy so nothing to lose in the meantime.

Also we now need to start drawing up some transfer plans as I really don't see the likes of Reina and Torres wanting to go another year with no CL football , and if things continue quite possibly no European football at all. I wouldn't begrudge either of them for wanting to go if such a thing should occur.

He is finished, bookmakers have stopped taking bets, sacking is imminent, most sources suggest Martin O'Neill will replace him.

Don't think I would really want O'neill, Hiddink would be nice for the experience but his age would put me off. I would be wanting someone younger , someone who has enough years left in them to build an era , a la Ferguson.

Guardiola or Mourinho would be nice, but both virtually impossible.

Possible candidates which spring to mind though would be Didier Deschamps, who might fancy a crack at the epl and has track record of winning titles with a team who haven't done so for 2 decades. Or alternatively Frank Rijkaard, experienced , attacking minded , pass and move philosophy, a name which can draw players to the club and best of all, is available right now.

I wouldn't want Mourinho and certainly wouldn't want O'Neill. Neither are remotely realistic either; Mourinho won't join any club that doesn't give him £m's to spend, nor do we need a manager that will **** off after 2 seasons, and I can't see him or O'Neill working with Comolli.

Deschamps is the stand out choice imo and the most realistic too.
