Is that article trying to suggest that Liverpool were a pass and move team last season or something and that Hodgson has ruined that??

It might not of been effective pass and move (like it was back in 08/09) but the philosophy was the same.

Now? Bolton under Big Sam were more attractive.

I cannot understand how this man still has a job.
He is showing absolutely nothing, at all, as Ive already said, far better managers have been sacked at clubs with lower expectations for getting better results than Woy is doing at Liverpool.

Players have been asked to report to training early tomorrow, crack of dawn board-meeting.
My source seems to think its probably CEO related, but is unable to check before its probably happened.

I don't think anybody is trying to say they played Barca style football, but they were playing a lot better last season (as a whole), and for a few years under Rafa played some really good stuff imho :)

I remember them playing West Ham? in a final? F.A. Cup? Thought that was a cracking game of football.

Roy has been a liverpool manager for 6 months It's unbelievable . some people are just lucky. Apart from making a negative history at Anfield nothing else he has done to the club.
I wonder what devil is at Anfield. Every body now seems to be on Man u pay sheet. The owners, RH, Players etc can't see and do the obvious. RH shouldn't have been hired in the first place!!

Eh,what & who? Have absolutely no idea what are talking about there fella but I'd lay off the chemicals in future.

Also Liverpool fans have kicked up a petition calling for Hodgson's head.

Well most papers saying if we fail at Bolton roy is gone. Now its papers so it could all be false BUT let say it isnt even if we win why the hell should he still be there?

I hate how managers get this win certain amount in next months/few games you can stay it should be a case of "Sorry this isnt working your fired"

I really hope we do a convincing win over Bolton but i fear we will hoof it due to Roys tactics :( Should worst happen if Roy is sacked after wards then all the better.

Managers in all likelihood aren't ever given such drastic short term ultimatums, they're fabricated by the inept bunch of knee jerks we call the press.

I'm amazed he hasn't been shown the door yet after the home defeat to Wolves. Liverpool not only lost but were completely outplayed by Wolves as well. Truly a sight to behold.

I think most Liverpool fans should see reason though and understand he's doing the best he can - ultimately, get angry with the board for not acting soon enough.

I'm sticking with him. Annoys me how the players always escape blame. Manager hasn't been brilliant since his arrival but he's not failing on purpose and the likes of Joe Cole and Torres have been absolutely dire. Paid millions over the course of one season and showing no sign of helping the club in any shape or form.

Roy hasn't settled very well but i'm not hoping on the Roy should be sacked bandwagon. 6 months doesn't warrant a sacking and he deserves to be backed heavily in the market.

I'm not sure that is wise though, let's say they back him heavily in the market and he spends 40 million, then continues to get results like we've been having and in 8 weeks time the board decides enough is enough and sacks him. Then you end up with a new manager who may not want the people bought in a couple of months earlier and you've wasted 40 million and a transfer window, plus are likely to have to deal with the departure of Torres and/or Reina. Imo, better to let him go now, get in a new manager , give them the funds, and perk things up for the second half of the season so that even if we don't qualify for Europe there is a slight chance of Reina and Torres staying.

If that the case, then I hope we lose.

I'm normally the last person advocating sacking managers mid season, but if the owners do have money to spend in the transfer window, Roy really does seem to be the last one you wan't spending it. Has there been any mention if the owners are releasing funds for January?

Nothing official I think, but I would bet they will look to sign at least 2 or 3 players, seemingly starting with sylvain marveaux.

He's failing because he's way out of his depth.

It's utterly baffling to see any Liverpool supporter back him now. What have you seen in the last 6 months that suggests he'll do anything different if he continues as manager?

Do you like the players he's brought to the club or the players he's currently chasing? Do you like his prehistoric tactics and refusal to change and adapt with the times? Do you like the fact he's blamed everyone but himself for our poor performances and losses?

I'm honestly interested in what you've seen in him that everyone else can't. Surely the fact we've only got 22 points from 18 games is enough of a reason on it's own

Roy Hodgson has apologised to Liverpool fans for questioning their support, but his contrition has come too late to safeguard his future as manager after the club’s owner, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), determined that he is not the man to take the club forward.

Though Hodgson is only six months into the three-year contract he signed last summer, he will be ousted as soon as a high-calibre replacement can be identified and recruited.

The 63-year-old has made it clear that he will not tender his resignation despite presiding over Liverpool’s worst start to a season for 57 years and his relationship with the club’s supporters breaking down, so FSG will effectively take the decision out of his hands by actively targeting his successor.

Should the right man become available Hodgson’s departure will be confirmed before the end of the season, although FSG will continue to bide its time in a bid to ensure that the problems facing the club are not exacerbated by any short-term decisions, as was the case last summer after the removal of Rafael Benítez.

Hodgson was in damage-limitation mode yesterday, apologising to supporters for his assertion that they had failed to back him. But his remorse appeared to cut little ice, with an online petition calling for his immediate dismissal attracting more than 11,000 signatories and demanding “a manager of greater quality”.

Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday was a setback too far for both fans and owners in a season in which embarrassing results have become a regular occurrence.

Hodgson attempted to build bridges before today’s home match against Bolton Wanderers. “It is a cliché but we do need time, patience and support, and the support from our fans at this club is of vital importance because that is what has made the club great through the years,” he said yesterday.

“We need that support and we need them [the supporters] to get behind us because things aren’t going well.”
