Roy Hodgson

I think it could be a very good move for Liverpool bringing Clarke in :)

Rate him quite highly.
Agreed.

I also think Kenny will be keen to bring him in so that he has his own team. Clearly he's not content being a caretaker and is angling to take the position up long term. That will be easier if he's already got the backroom staff in place.

My (Very bitter about everything) friend, and a few others were talking about the Liverpool thing.

Mr Bitter mentioned that he thought it was daft to sack Hodgson, and that Kenny had been after the job since the summer, he was playing on the theory that Kenny and co whispering in the ears of the new owners to remove Woy and that Kenny can come in (he stuck around and worked for the club).

Can't of being easy for Woy if this was the case working against the tide so to speak.

Everyone else dismissed this as a bit daft, but thought I'd throw this in to the ring.

I don't think he's the long term answer, I think Liverpool need to find a young (ish) up and coming manager, who plays football the right way and can build a team to try and dominate again, I don't personally see Kenny as this, I see him as a stop gap until they find this man.

Owen Coyle anyone? Again, putting it out there, he's got Bolton playing good football, clearly motivates and has a good relationship with the players. Would he have the ability to bring in and through young players though?

Would Rightguard really come in and build a team to try and get Liverpool back up to (as Liverpool fans would argue) their place at the top of English and European football? Would other managers not come in for the short term, buy lots of players and try and achieve something with no lasting legacy?

Just to add, personally I'd have stuck with Woy until the end of the season and I had his long term replacement lined up.

I've had too much to drink :( so this probbaly is even more **** then I normally sprout :(

Really happy with clarke being appointed - somebody who was integral to a premier league winning team - hopefully it will rub off on our players and get them playing again.

So glad kelly got put back in the team - that boy should start every game. Johnson does not have a place in defense and should be deployed on the right wing - why hodgson could not see this is beyond me.

Babel has looked a bit more up for it in recent games, hope he gets a run now.

I'm glad KK is manager, and also that Clarke appointment sounds interesting.

I'm in two minds as to whether KK should be given the job (who else would we get)? Or we spend the time with him as caretaker and find the right man for the job (but again, who would that be)?

Clarke is a good appointment, can't see any change in form though, I think Dalglish may pick up a result or two but he won't do any/much better than Hodgson.

Is Dalglish happy to be caretaker manager or does he want the permanent position?

Deep down I'm sure he'd love the job long-term but he'll only ever act in the best interests of the club and I'm sure in the summer if/when the club find a suitable manager to take the club forward, he'll willingly hand over the reigns.

The biggest issue will be the supporters though; if Dalglish does well the pressure on the owners to appoint Dalglish beyond the summer will be massive and even if they resisted, Dalglish's shadow will loom over his successor even more than it did over Hodgson.

I'm expecting a top 10 finish and possibly a Europa League place now. Under Hodgson I wouldn't have been surprised if we were relegated, he was that bad as was the football he had us playing.

Had Hodgson stayed I don't think LFC would've got relegated, but LFC supporters would've had one heck of a nail biting ride.

The problem this year is that all the teams are so close on points. You score 2 wins and you move up 5 places. You lose twice and from mid-table security, you can suddenly find yourself near/in the relegation zone.

Dalglish has more or less said this word for word just now in his press-conference.

I know it's great to get rid of Hodgson but I'm worried you're all getting a bit ahead of yourselves, give Dalglish more than one game before hailing him as the messiah. I don't want you lads getting disappointed. :p

Where did you get the idea that we're making him out to be superman?

Nobody is expecting miracles, just an improvement on Hodgson.

I , and I think most Liverpool fans, dont see him as the messiah. What we do think though is that he will be an improvement over Hodgson, play a better style of football, with more attacking and a better choice of players. I think we saw some of that to a degree yesterday.

Bringing in Steve Clarke was another good move that I can only see as positive and something which again I wouldnt have thought would happen under Hodgson. When the time comes in the summer, Dalglish will move aside for whomever is selected to be the permanent manager, in the meanwhile the apathy I had about the rest of the season has now gone and I am once more interested in the fortunes of Liverpool, after so many months of despair there is at least a positive sign of hope now.

Sly Sports said so.

I would love him to do well and be kept on, he's got 10 years in him at least, seeing him back has had such an uplifting effect on everyone, I'll be sad to see him go again.

But I will of course respect FSG's plans if they have someone else of quality they want to bring in for the long term, and I hope some fans don't give them problems for getting rid of Kenny, but I'm just hoping Kenny gives them a reason to look closer to home

Most fans don't seem him as a long term solution to our managerial prayers, they simply know that he will do his utmost to get the players playing in a way that liverpool fans love.

As a player, he will always be idolised. Some worry that this managerial venture will damage that reputation, which is why i think the majority see him as a someone who can nurse us with some respect to the end of the season when a more long term appointment can be made.

If he were to excel in the role then who knows...

Don't you just love how supporters of other teams put words in the mouths of Liverpool fans. It's the same as the famous "it's our year" quote we allegedly say every year
