Johnson hits back at sly sport critics

Glen Johnson "Comments from alcoholic drug abusers are not really gonna upset me and who is Paul Merson to jugde players, he was average at the best of times"

"the only reason he's on that show is because he gambled his money away...the clown"

From his twitter

What an absolute moron. I can't stand Merson either but, if I was in a public position, I certainly wouldn't be launching a personal attack on him, particularly from the drugs/alcohol angle. That's just a bit low frankly.

Lol! This cracked me up. Johnson has a point.

I think personal attack on his actual pundit skills, or lack of would have been more appropriate, but he has removed it now anyways.
Drugs/alcohol or gambling would you deem as mersons fault for actually being involved in them?

I'm very interested to see what Kenny can do. There's absolutely no pressure being a caretaker manager and it's hard to see how he can do any worse than Roy. He knows the club and the players inside out and must have a good idea about how he wants the team to line up. I'm under no illusions and I'm fully aware that the change in form isn't going to be dramatic.

As a fan all I want to see is the team to go out and play some good football if only to prove they can. I don't expect us to win against utd tomorrow but our next three fixtures are Blackpool, Everton and Wolves. I'd hope that one of those games provides an opportunity to get a solid win under the belt and bring a bit of belief back to the squad.

Roy's biggest problem as a manager is he offered no hope or light at the end of the tunnel. There was zero improvement and honestly thing were going backwards. His best performance as a Liverpool manager was against arsenal on the first day of the season, it was downhill from then on. He completely failed to make any kind of statement, bring any direction or show any sign of a plan to dig the team out of the hole they were in.

I don't doubt his ability but fans and possibly players had lost faith. It was a downward spiral and there was no option but to let him go. I wish him the best of luck and honestly think he would make a good England manager.

Roy had been a dead man walking for a while, I just wish I'd put a bet on him to be the next manager to be sacked a few weeks ago, before the bookies stopped taking bets.
