Roy Hodgson

Remind me again of the great football newcastle played the year before dogleash got sacked at newcastle?

Must have been some good entertaining stuff to then get sacked 2 games into the next season.

To be fair it should be easy for him to rise up the table a bit now, the table is so close a couple of wins moves you right up.

I can remind you of the great football Liverpool and Blackburn played under dalglish if you like, oh and kudos on the oh so amazingly funny dogleash name, you really ought to be on stage with such a sharp wit.

would love to see what Martin O'Neil could do ;)

Wow. I totally forgot about him. Having left Villa, is he available or has he got some crazy clause on his contract that states that he cannot join another club for X months/years?

Hopefully Kenny can get some heart and pride back into the squad. If Kenny Dalglish can't inspire the squad to live up to the shirt then they should be sold. Perhaps he can persuade some who might have wanted to leave to stay and try harder and get some who wouldn't have considered joining in January to do so.

To be fair, any decent player, whose career is on the up, would not want to join Liverpool until the permanent manager's identity is made clear and LFC give that player clear plans of what LFC intends to do to put right, what has clearly gone wrong over the last 12 months.

Dalglish may be able to motivate/inspire Liverpudlians who saw him play and idolise him. But somehow, I doubt that foreigners who have little idea of who he is will be motivated in quite the same way.

In order to get back into the top 4, I really do think Liverpool need to hire Mourinho. I can't see any other way that they will be able to break into that elite group.

They don't have the quality of players that Man Utd have. They don't have a manager available to them as good as Wenger or Fergie. They don't have the funds of Man City or Chelsea. Bearing this in mind, the quick fix is to hire the best manager in the World and ask him if he can take them into the top 4 and possibly the top2. Mourinho will be pretty honest and realistic with them. The alternative is to hire a lesser manager and then to give him HUGE funds to spend on players and replace 75% of the first team.

Another option for them this Summer might be Capello. He is doing a less than outstanding job as England manager, however, make no mistake, he is top class manager who is very much results oriented. Liverpool need results and I think Capello could have a fair crack at taking Liverpool into the top 4 next season.

Martin O'Neil is the only other option. With the exception of Rijkard, who did well at Barca, all the other names mentioned aren't anything special.

Liverpool's problem is that they have limited resources and their star players are getting old. They can't rely on Gerard to single handedly get them out of trouble. You need to have a core set of key players who play 90% of the games, who perform well for a club. Not just one or 2.

The way I see it though, is that the only way Liverpool can win the league in the next few years, is if they hire Mourinho. It really depends on whether or not Liverpool have ambition or not. Right now...I'm not so sure.

Mourinho also likes to have money to buy players, something I doubt he'd get at 'pool. i suspect jose has his eye on the manchester seat once Sir Alex retires. I think that's the only job he'd take back in the EPL.

Thats an absolute certainty, Mourinho only ever goes to teams which will have a good chance of winning the league, it all helps to boost his image and his personal record, a little like a formula one driver only ever driving for the best team. He wouldnt come to Liverpool for any amount of money because he wouldnt want to damage his image by failing to win the league. I'd say he has more than one eye on the Utd seat, I'd say he has both eyes, both his arms, both his legs and everything else on the Utd seat :)

I'm not so sure on that, a lot of foreign players grew up watching English football, ask many of them if they know about Best, Charlton, Moore, Rush, Barnes, Shearer, Lineker, Dalglish, Grobbelaar etc and I think you'll be surprised at how many know of them and are aware of what they were as players.

Amazed me how big the EPL is when I moved to Canada, went the local McDonadalds and said i was from stoke and the guy behind the counter replied "Rory Delap".
