Roy Hodgson

Great news, As above i dont expect him to get us to 4th but least improve teams performances and able to help players re-gain confidence and desire which they seemed to have zero of under Roy.

My only fear is that if he does extremely well will lots of the fans then be angry when he moves aside again i wouldnt be angry as i expect him to move aside anyway after this season.

Johnson hits back at sly sport critics

Glen Johnson "Comments from alcoholic drug abusers are not really gonna upset me and who is Paul Merson to jugde players, he was average at the best of times"

Classic. Does make me laugh that lifes great failures are paid to comment on professional football.

I just struggle to see who will cone after and if Dalglish can actually improve things.

He may well do, and if I am wrong I will eat a serving of humble pie :) personally I just see it as an appeasement appointment to calm the fans down as things are poor for lfc at the moment.

Its a unifying appointment, call it appeasement if you want, but frankly he is the absolute correct person to be a caretaker manager. Thats the key, I think some people are mistakenly assuming that all Liverpool fans want Dalglish as permanent manager, which isnt the case. Many of us just want Dalglish as caretaker only.

There will be plenty of takers for the permanent position in the summer and Dalglish is sensible enough that he will move aside for the selected candidate.

Fair enough if that was Gerard/Cara/Reina. But a muppet like him? Shows his class as a person is equal to that of his class on the pitch. Garbage.

Even though you think Johnson is woeful but, Merson is useless as a pundit as with most of sky.

I feel a bit sorry for Woy, Dalgleish has got a hell of a job on his hands.

Guessing, it's just to try and obtain a respectable top 10 finish now, not expecting them to turn around and be up fighting for a CL spot now. Sort things out over the summer. Get a few new faces in, new manager, sort the place out.

I actually think Dalglish has a much easier job on his hands than some think. Lets face it, if results continue to go poorly then people will simply say its because the squad isnt good enough , just as they are at the moment. So no loss there. If the results perk up, then people will say its thanks to Dalglish and him instilling confidence into the players and the style he plays, so no loss there. Now is the perfect time to be a caretaker manager of Liverpool imo. After summer though, thats where whomever it is will have a hell of a job.

Oh I agree :D

but getting (rightly) pointed out as a **** player and underperforming on top of that is not really grounds for an attack on his personal life. Truth hurts Johnson.

Now if he had said "Merson is a muppet and should never have been allowed near a mic in the first place" I would have completely agreed :D

Yeah I suppose you're right but it must be nigh on impossible to motivate that squad at the moment, I can't see Torres wanting to stay after the summer no matter who comes in.

I really don't see this season getting any better for them.

He did clarify with a second tweet:

He was average at the best of times, the only reason he's on that show is coz he gambled all his money away. The clown!

:p

He isn't a '****' player, maybe not the best defender but he has qualities and is underperforming in a Liverpool side that are all underperforming.

If that was me taking abuse week in week out I would probably lose the head like Johnson to a pundit who has 0 credibility. Had it been a respectable pundit (can't even think of one) but if your going to insult someone doing something pokey no reason they can't give you some back.

All that said Johnson should keep his head down and work hard, perhaps defending the whole team would be appropriate.

If they had kept with Hodgson I think it absolutely would have been nigh on impossible to motivate them. Now though it should be much easier to motivate them, they will know now that the winds of change have begun, that a thorough investigation, rather than a kneejerk appointment, into a permanent manager is now underway. This season wont get any better, to be honest this season is a write-off now (and has been for a while), but at least the players can now see that something is actually being done about it, which wouldnt have been the case if they had simply kept on with Hodgson.

Thing now though is that the owners MUST now back up that indication by buying well in the transfer market, to reinforce to the players that yes, look, we are serious about change and improvement.

Oi I am not! I am a season ticket holder.

Why I'm commenting is because the fans don't seem to understand that it isn't going to be easy and sacking a manager midway through is not the way forward, Dalgleish is not your Messiah!

:D

What are you talking about?

Liverpool fans could see that we were grossly underperforming under Roy. He didn't have the skills to get the players Liverpool have playing to the best of their ability. His ambition wasn't strong enough, and he issued some cringeworthy statements about how well we played, whilst the majority of fans would say it was the worst football they had seen in many, many years.

Ultimately we have a 'caretaker' manager in Dalglish who fans believe will get the players performing again, and move us away from the relegation zone.

We don't suddenly think all our problems are over, challenge for top 4 or even get a european place. We just feel more confident about remaining in the premiership and watching some more ambitious football.

We can now long at a long term management position as i do not think Dalglish is a long term solution.
