Royal Mail Strikes for the Next Two Weeks

They do an unskilled job. They should take what they bloody well get to be honest.
I agree and I've said this before :) It is unskilled labouring which a lot of people do for minimum wage; they get a lot more than that. I think they have an overinflated idea of their worth; ideas above their station you might say.

Despite our best efforts, and those of ACAS, to resolve the current industrial dispute, the strike action continues. The current round of strikes are not on a national basis, but affect different parts of Royal Mail's business on different days. This is set to continue until 12 noon on Wednesday 8th August.

Every single one of them needs to get there rear ends fired and their jobs given to people that actually want to work.

Ill do it I need a job. As long as I get to listen to music while i work thats fine by me they can pay me in ducks if they want to.

You're from NI (where I am at the moment) - does RMSD mail normally make it from the mainland within the guarantee time?

Special delivery? Yep. If its on special delivery, and you've a gaurantee time, then it doesnt make a difference that you live here.

Well, thanks to these clowns my new insurance premium went up by £650 odd.

I'm also waiting on a package arriving from england that was sent on Monday, still no sign! Argh.

How does RM striking cause your insurance to go up?

If my passport doesn't arrive tomorrow morning can I claim the cost of my flight from the Royal Mail?
I'd be surprised if it did, as to the best of my knowledge they aren't delivering tomorrow.

edit - scratch that i got my days confused :(

Had something RMSD'd to me on Tuesday, Wednesday got absolutly no post, but it came today bright and early.

It wasn't something mission critical so that was okay for me.

It was posted in Scotland and I've just read that Scots are on an unofficial strike (what's this - just everyone essentially calling in sick!?) so I'm almost certain it won't arrive.

Absolutely fuming. I require the use of the RM one time in the whole year and they decide to get their selfish strikes on at that time.

Any posties on here that support the strike? If yes, I hate you and emplore you to resign so you can get a job you feel pays you correctly. You are incredibly selfish and what you are doing should be criminal.

Why did you leave your passport until the very last minute?

If I get one more phonecall from someone wanting to send a letter for next day delivery but not wanting to pay £28+VAT for it then I think I'll scream. Before 9am delivery will cost you well over double that.

TNT are a business courier. Yes we deliver residential stuff for large customers, yes you can lie and "pretend" you are a business if you really want, "Oh my names Alan Jones, company is Alan Jones Limited PLC" and so on, we've heard it all before, but you most likely won't want to pay our new customer rates so it isn't really worth the effort.

Not unless you took the consequential loss option.

Hopefully management will blink and fire the lot of them. It probably wouldnt even take a week to train most of the new staff.

i'd do it...bloody hell, almost double what i'm earning now, for walking around listening to music...blimey, they have it freaking easy
