The issue is the price/performance is so poor,I would literally would have to spend 50% more to get 50% extra performance. Plus coming into summer, plenty of other things to do and I have enough games that I can play. If something comes along which is decent value,I might upgrade if not it's easier to wait. Even when it comes to new games, usually waiting a few months or longer makes sense in optimisations, etc.

Yep. Im only willing to buy for a stonkingly good deal. As you say, summer is coming so likely not gaming much anyway.

Think i might wait for the 7900xt to come down more.

If we get 40 degree heatwaves again, there's no chance im turning on my pc.

You'll find me at the nearest cinema asleep :D lol
Public library mate, fully aircon and free to enter & remain all day, heavily engrossed in a novel, or go A&E tell them you bumped your head and feel dizzy & seeing stars, will keep you for observation overnight and even give a bed & breakfast, ofc all fully airconned ;)

It will have to be an AD102 based die to make any sense. But I am still wondering what Nvidia is trying to do with selling an RTX4060TI 8GB for £450. It will start to have real issues as time progresses and could lead to a real consumer backlash if their shiny new 8GB cards has problems within a year. If they then tried to double VRAM to 16GB,it makes the RTX4070/RTX4070TI look a bit silly.
It will already have issues when people will max some games out and see the bad frame rate and stutter now, not later. I still think they'll be incredible naive to launch 8gb cards, but greed... greed never changes.

Considering how much of an uplift they got this generation, they easily could have had a 12GB card for the same price and still pushed dGPU tiers up.

Actually is better this way. Stealthy rising pricing so no one will notice or care vs. brutally rising prices so everyone notice, complain and a lot take action. 2nd one is better for the consumer.

Seeing 7900xt currently at £750 , not enough of a uplift for me from 3080 trying to hold out for next gen but does seem one of the better deals

Yes, just seen that. Tempted, but having seen that general supply of that model from a main supplier that lots of sites use is over 400 in stock...

I think there are more discounts to come.

I'll probably bite under £700.

I suppose.
With 3060 12 cards going for around £300 and the 4070 using vitually the same spec minus the node then there must be a huge profit on the 4070

Its worse when you think the fully enabled AD104 is in the RTX4070TI!!

It is going to be really interesting to see where AMD price their competitor for this (presumably the 7800 xt).

They will no doubt have seen how poorly this has been received meaning the likely only avenue to actually sell it will be to severely undercut the 4070. That might finally force Nvidia's hand.

I can't see how AMD can even think about releasing the 7800xt at more than $499 after seeing this last week.

4070 outselling everything else at Germany's largest tech retailer. So the armchair sales analysts better not give up their day job.

Nvidia won't cut prices because of AMD, Jensen believes geforce is far superior and won't damage its brand. AMD is not growing market share, they don't want to. They will piggyback Nvidia pricing but with more vram but inferior software. And the cycle continues of Nvidia outselling AMD 10-1.

What?

Retailers have already cut the 4070 price within a week and Nvidia are rumoured to be offering them a $50 rebate.

Ocuk already have a card for £550....

This is within a WEEK in a tier with no new gen competition yet.

Its a rebate that you have to write in and claim, deliberately time consuming and convoluted, designed to put you off doing it, everyone knows that's how that works which is why it wont.

If Nvidia wanted to make it $50 cheaper they would make it $50 cheaper.

They offering retailers the rebate apparently (so they can lower prices to actually make sales).

Ah i see, that's common practice when reducing prices, the cards have already been sold to retailers so if the vendor wants them to be cheaper they have to rebate the retailer.
