To be fair, the failing lies not with the courier driver but the company itself.

If they had adequately informed the OP that there was a delay and apologised in the first instance and responded to his call in a timely fashion I doubt he would have reacted the way he did later on.

As the driver is the face of the company he should have the wherewithal to have dealt with the situation better, but again it falls to the company to adequately train their employees.

Regardless. There could have been many reasons why the driver was late. Yes the company should have informed him of the delay, but he still had no rights to act the way he did. The driver could have been planning on to apologise for the delay before the OP jumped at him with a childish remark...

OP acted, the driver reacted. OP got upset. It's that simple.

Things do not always work out in life, **** happens.

But a lot of people react spontaneously to things when angry, it's human nature. And it's just unfortunate to whoever is in the line of fire.

Neverthless, he should have remained professional and not reacted the way he did.

Just read that again, think about it and then come back. You have laid out well why people are calling you a sock gardener. I've even put it on bold to bring it to life for you....it's all there, a full and clear explanation.

How dare a person with my box have human nature, I pay for his life, his house, his mums care home....I OWN HIM

No, you're wrong!

The driver should have remained calm, acted professional and apologised!

After all, the "customer is always right"!

Fair point and I don't know why I posted as a question as I still basically stand by my argument.

Your argument is basically, them being late gives you the right to start bitching at whoever eventually turns up.
To what degree should you be allowed to vent your fustration at the person in front of you?

You narked him, he sarked back. You too, it bad. Days later you are still taking it bad.
A poll telling you that you are still taking it bad doesn't waiver your opinion at all. You stand by your agrument.
You stand there sullen and almost alone.

90 mins late is hardly the end of your world now surely?! If he'd been 90 mins early and you were out then that would be annoying but come on!

I have a pretty good relationship with my local DPD driver, having chatted with him when he's arrived 2 mins early for my delivery slot until I could sign for it on time :D

Take a chill pill OP!

Last week, for only the second time in as long as I can remember my Ocado delivery was late, this time 2 hours late so didn't arrive to close to 11pm after I had a 5am rise, day in London and got home around 8pm, for my expected 8:30ish arrival. Bloke called me, obvious he was having a bad one, sat on motorway for 1 hour, stressed. I was tired and annoyed but said OK, bring my delivery for 11pm I'll wait. Then he couldn't find my house (he was stressed, wasn't reading the instructions) but I thought, you know what, he's having a mare, let's just get it unloaded and move on with a smile.

It's all about perspective. I could have done the "I spend thousands with you, this unacceptable, pay attention, the instrucitons are clear you putz" but the right approach was "don't worry, these things happen, tomorrow is another day".

OP THAT is the problem, you have a 4 page thread about a parcel that was 90 mins late and the driver didn't find your humour funny and now you want recompense or ass kissing. Sorry, no sympathy. We all have days like that, put it behind you, it's not even an atom sized issue in the grand scale of our world, or your world and if it is, get the **** out of your house sometime! :)
