What purpose did your snarky opening remark serve? Did you expect it to lead to a jovial social interaction?

Sure you're 'the customer' and he's the company representative, but he's also a guy just doing his job and is perfectly aware that he's late.

To be honest you didn't even pay specifically for that timed hour delivery slot either I imagine so to react the way you did is ludicrous. I'm guessing you paid for next day so they were still well within their SLA.

Im sure their delivery slots are a "best effort" and you are silly for thinking otherwise.

does anyone else not think this has gone far enough?

Merlin has every right to be annoyed if it did cause him further inconveniences and the delays made him move his schedule around, I certainly wouldnt be too happy about that.

I can understand how everyone is saying he has been rude and while that is true and I am a yes voter at the top, surely just roasting him is not the right way forward.

We all have our views on things, some times most of us share that same view, sometimes all of us do not.

The DPD driver even though im not the one to throw any praise at them, was probably having a bad day and it sounds like you had a very busy and stressful day ahead.
A collision was inevitable if everything did not play out exactly as it should.

Think Merlin has learnt a lesson here, but that does not mean some of you guys shouldn't learn a lesson in this too.

BAN! :p

You've posted a few times in this thread. The ironic thing is you seem more angry than I was and you weren't even the one who had the frustration I went through. If you've taken such a dislike to me, you could always just **** off and do something more constructive than waste your time responding here? Just a thought!

That's not ironic.

late to the party..

honestly if I'd have been the driver and had vehicle issues etc, I'd probably be stressed off my head and the comment of "only an hour and a half late" probably would have seen me try and force the parcel through the OP letterbox.

OP are you also one of those people who gets really bent out of shape when one of those proles this is supposed to be serving you refers to you as "mate" or anything other than "Oh great and powerful one"?

OP, what is it that you actually do for a living? Because you've talked down to everyone else in this thread, posting up comments about us all being call-centre employees whilst completely ignoring the fact that you're overwhelmingly disagreed with, but you've not made any mention about what makes you think you're so great? From your posts I see that you were waiting in for a drum case, and last night you were up posting your same tired rubbish until about 2am. Are you a groupie?

His occupation is listed as musician. He says he is in his own one man business.

My bet is that he is a freelance 'open mic night' drummer that had a falling out with the band :D

So I'm not sure why he thinks that makes him better than everyone else. His general attitude toward people in this thread mimics the exact attitude that he had with the delivery driver. I guess it's just his general nature.

Started reading through, then realised how long this thread is, in such a short space of time and gave up...

...but this. I work as a manager in retail and have no problem asking a paying customer to leave if they treat someone under me in an unacceptable manner. It doesn't really matter who you are or what you're paying. Don't be a d*ck to others that aren't deserving.

This is the same as standing in a queue for 10 minutes and then taking it out on the cashier. Where's the logic in that?

To be fair, if the cashier is chatting to her friend about what she did last night instead of serving customers I will.

Yeah me too... Though not immediately... I'll say something like "Excuse me..? Sorry..." if I start to feel like they're taking the ****, and I'm far too British to say even that without feeling like the bad guy. :p

You know, in my defence as a decent human being, the one thing I've never bothered to do is go into threads just to have a go at someone. It's of no interest to me, I have better things to do. It doesn't particularly bother me, but why are there so many people coming into this thread to do that? Are people's lives or jobs so dull and empty that they feel the need to spit so much venom? Serious question.

Let's look at this a bit further. I personally haven't sworn at anyone. I've been very composed. I didn't swear or shout at the driver. And I've even admitted in this thread I shouldn't have had a pop at the driver.

I've been called a terrible model human being and have been called names by members here who presumably regard themselves as model human beings. I have no intention of reporting anyone either, feel free to say what you want to say.

But does anyone see the hypocrisy or is it just me? At the risk of boasting, and I don't mean it to come across like that, I'm 'probably' a nicer person than a lot of you that are slating me. :)

I beg your pardon, I'll have you know that I'm perfect. And slating you is one of the pre-requisites for such a title. :p
