Both of you were in the wrong. You should not have snapped at him, but he should not have responded to you in the manner he did, it was unprofessional.

However I can understand why he did. He was late, but got the parcel to you anyway, perhaps next time he sees your address and gets stuck in traffic he just won't bother.

I do wonder though how you would have reacted if he had reacted professionally and apologized? Would you have continued complaining anyway?

With that attitude your next DPD parcel will hopefully be used in a game of warehouse football before it is delivered to you

The comments here truly defy belief. It's really simple. I've taken time off to be at home to take receipt of a parcel that was late and I was badly informed of any delay. Whether it was right or wrong for me to vent some mild frustration at the courier, it is NOT for the courier to be sarcastic back, I don't care if you think he's entitled to, he's not. Call me old fashioned, but there's a saying "the customer is always right".

No, you aren't.

Yes I am. If I didn't buy the product, there would be no courier booked. It's all part of the food chain.

You might tell me I'm being too fussy, or you may
agree?

I wouldn't use the word fussy to describe the way you acted ;) I can see where your coming from but you need to understand these things happen. The DPD driver probably had a bad day too, sometimes you just gotta take a step back and see things from someone elses perspective.

Lol at everyone siding with the courier. Unbelievable. :D

I paid a shipping fee and the product from the company that booked the courier. Therefore, I am the customer.

Lol at your presumption and self entitled attitude.

You did not pay for the time slot, the courier has other parcels to deliver and no courier tracking is so good that every parcel that day gets delivered on time.

You were just on the wrong end of the delivery list. Did you think the guy went for a pint instead of deliver? Ofc not, DPD will know about it due to their scan times, so you can only conclude you started it, since the late delivery of his parcel was unlikely due to the drivers choice.

Your complaint should be directed at DPD and their delivery scheduling rather than the driver, especially after your rude quip at him. Its like shouting at a shelf stocker at Tesco because 'they' moved xxx to somewhere you cant find it.

The customer is not always right.

can see how this has gotten out of hand, but I have had a terrible experience with DPD recently who I am positive have gone out there way to ensure I never use them again.

All started with a order from overclockers made up of 3 boxes (1 monitor clearly marked, 1 box for components clearly marked as fragile and another one clearly marked as a case)
These got pushed through the door at me before the door was fully open, not to mention a foot and half gap from bottom of door to inside of my home, so a monitor, case and box of components got pushed through the door and fell from heights ranging from foot and half to about 4 foot. I am sure you can see where this is going, damages all round.

This is not to mention that I live on top of a flat and my landlord downstairs (in a shop) met him first and he refused to drive round the back to come up to my flat until she told him to get out of her shop.

After throwing my things through the door as well and me trying to ask him what he is doing, he did nto say a word, turned his back on me with his little palmpilot to sign and wanted to run as quick as possible.

Made a complaint to DPD, got told 21 days until we get back to you, called them on day 15 got told its still being investigated and to wait it further.
Day 28, I call them asking for further information, complaint ID I had, completely disappeared, its as if I had never raised a complaint.
Me fly off the handle, get on to a manager who confirms they can see all my calls that ive made and is unsure on where my complaint went.

1 week later, get a call back from him explaining that hes truly sorry and the complaint has still not been found etc.
Hes contacted my local depot to investigate further, ive had no further calls or anything from DPD apart from a box of chocolates delivered by them with a letter saying sorry.

Damage well and truly done though, no more orders fro OCUK for a bit, had a few delivery's from DPD during the complaint time period and experienced numerous other problems, resulting in me no longer having any confidence in them.

Not helping your situation TS, but thought id throw my thoughts in here about my recent experience with them.

Everyone has a bad day every now and again - And you throwing a fit over being 3 hours late for a delivery was probably the icing on the cake for the courier. You need more chill. Couriers are worked really hard.

Sorry OP you were rude to the courier so expect rudeness back. They are probably earning less than minimum wage, had a crap day, and then have a sarcastic comment thrown at them. I agree it's not professional of the driver but dealing with the public can be a thankless task.

Also I agree you're not the customer. You are the customer of the shop, not the courier. Feel free to make a reasonable complaint to the company who you are a customer with (the shop).

op is like Donald Trump

even though everybody else thinks he is wrong and just plain rude , he cant admit to himself that if he had just put a bit of thought into the whole episode it would never have happened

moral of the story...be like a dick to people dont be suprised when they are like a dick back

The fact that the OP refuses to accept any of the blame shows what a lovely human he isn't. I have to deal with his type regularly and they make my skin crawl.

People will respond to you in the manner you speak to them, it's not a hard concept.

To all those saying the customer pays his wages, you are wrong.

The company pays his wages, and if the company can't afford to pay him I'm sure he'll find employment elsewhere. So please stop using this tired old line.

You are of course correct, and had I been the courier I wouldn't have been sarcastic back, however I would have returned to my van WITH your package and marked it down as nobody home.

The customer is always right is an attitude to customer service, it is not a free ticket to be a ****

At the end of the line you are not DPDs customer. You paid a company for a product to be delivered (presumably next day) and that was fulfilled.

Just draw the line there.

I find its hit and miss with delivery drivers. Some of the Amazon delivery guys I get are happy as anything, nattering away, smiley, etc. And then I get a few, and DPD in particular, who are on a bluetooth earpiece chatting away - shove the parcel at you, followed by a pen and a tablet, and then leave without saying anything. Manners cost nowt, springs to mind.
