Add in the money laundering for mexican drugs cartels to many other tales of woe.

Cheat a granny out of 100 quid and you go to jail. Defraud a billion people by swinging commodity costs or lending costs and it's business as usual.

The half-life of knowledge is the amount of time that has to elapse before half of the knowledge in a particular area is superseded or shown to be untrue.

Even if facts exist, they can be superseded/ proved wrong.

Presumably scientists debate and disagree about facts on this basis alone.
Not to mention constant debate on validity of studies of course.
