Russell Brand.

I think he's a complete tit but I actually find his stand up quite amusing as long as you just take it as some headcase ranting on stage rather than trying to look for any profound message.

I used to like him, find him annoying now.

This...

it goes like this for me....

Hated him when he used to crap on channel 4 (used to always be around my missus's parents house at the time and he was one big brother or something as a presenter)

Thought he was a laugh after i saw him on something else, watched his stand up and read his book, both were alright but not exactly amazing, his book is worth a read though.

Annoying. Ok Ok, he has a large vocabulary which is what I liked about his standup but hell, half the stuff he rambles on about is nonsence.

Well he admits that what he has achieved through rubbish films is not the issue but how he is using his mass amount of media exposure to shedding light on important issues which governments and other people are failing to rise.

Such as:
Bank Bonuses,
Tax Evasions,
MP'S lack of attendance to important social issue but massive attendance to personal issue's (Pay Rise)

Ok I see he his lack of appeal to people, he speaks eloquently and dresses a certain way which not everyone agree's with.

But he is raising important issues, no harm done.

Read a copy of private eye once in a while and you'll find 100's more such issues being raised. He's picked a couple of those and put on a funny character, he's basically a jester.

Shame he's got absolutely no basis on which to place himself on a pedestal the way he does.

Hes better now as a political commentator/campaigner than he was as a comedian.

I often don't agree with what he stands for, ok I rarely ever agree, but I wouldn't say he is "jumping on a bandwagon", there are videos of him at protests around similar issues before he was famous too. It is also wrong to say someone cannot champion the underprivileged if you have achieved success and wealth yourself.

Such passion is rare is modern politics.

I don't mind the guy as a commentator but i find his comedy awful especially when within 5 meters of Noel Fielding, who i like solo too oddly.

He doesn't need to offer an alternative socialist Mecca, he just needs to get kids/teenagers engaged and thinking about politics.

He's not meant for 'adults'

MP'S lack of attendance to important social issue but massive attendance to personal issue's (Pay Rise).

I do hope you aren't talking about the fake internet poster about the commons that does the rounds every time someone wants to bash MPs.

I think he's an idiot, but he's really good at it!

He picks a popular argument and runs with it.
He does have quive a rich vocabulary, and initially comes across as being quite intelegent, but his arguments have no firm-footing; they're mostly just hot air - no real 'solution' as has been mentioned in this thread a few times.

The problem is; he amazes masses of gullible, stupid people with these 'clever retorts' using his extended vocabulary - they seem to go viral all of the time 'when you see how Russell Brand countered this statement you will be amazed' et al. I've no doubt there's been a very recent Russell Retort which has spurred the reation of this thread (by someone who is also just thinking 'wtf?!')

The problem is, I seem to remember agreeing with some of his ideas about drugs policies; they did seem to be quite watertight [at the time] but now he has just applied with formula to this 'revolution' idea he has, and for me it hold no water.

step 1.
revolution
step 2.
err? oh, wait.

I really with the media would stop giving him the time of day, but unfortunatly I think he just generates a little bit too much interest at the moment for them.
