Russell Brand.

I dunno what you're laughing at @dlockers (u put the rofl smilie on the above post), if i had to bet on it i'd bet there is substance to the accusations, but surely things must and should be proven before measures are taken against the accused?
Proven by who? Lol. Not everything goes to court of appeal to be determined fact. If it walks like a dog and barks like a dog, it's probably a dog.

He used to be a leftie afaik, he did a video with ed miliband in support of labour for the 2015 election.
Thanks. Any idea if he is still a leftie (but supports some views people like to associate with the right) or is he now a full card carrying Tory?

Still has left wing views but also right wing, quick Google gives a telegraph story on him a few days ago that says he started right wing talking points in 2020 during covid lockdowns.

He's more an apolitical anarchist type of person.

The right used to hate him because they thought he was a champagne socialist, now they seem to have accepted him more because he's a conspiracy theorist anti-establisment figure.

I think claims his life has been ruined are a bit OTT.
hopefully i will never be in a position to find out for sure, but i think i would probably rather be accused of murder than rape to be honest.

with murder there is a chance you can fully clear your name but with rape, there will always be that questionmark over you.....

like i said i can definitely see the argument for why making it public can help build a case as it empowers those to come forward who otherwise would not have the confidence to do it.

but equally it also encourages the crazies and those who see a chance to make money.

Also being a nasty so and so is not the same as a rapist.... i mean take that woman who thought he was really creepy allegedly taking about ian huntley when she went back to his place for a threesome.

1) why have a 3some with someone who was weird and creepy? there was no mention of her saying you know what, you are horrible i am off!.
2) if he was such a wrongun, why did she keep in touch with him and choose to go back? for a quote for a book? if he was that bad she could have told him to shove his quote surely.

I am not defending him. Just saying that it makes me feel uncomfortable how media loves to sell this stuff.... it reminds me of craig charles, and cliff richard... or anyone remember the Carl Beech shinanegans ? James O Brian proper fell for his nonsense and broadcast it.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, so if you literally witnessed a crime and there hasn’t been a trial yet, the person didn’t do it. Hell, if you literally *committed* a crime and there hasn’t been a trial yet, you didn’t do it.

Just the latest grifter hypocrite it would seem to me, in a long line of them.

It's weird how all these anti-establishment figures are very wealthy.

If I was accused by multiple people of serious sexual crimes, I would fully expect to be suspended from my job until the accusations were settled, and yes, it would probably damage my reputation!

I find the simple act of not behaving in a way that causes people to accuse me of serious crimes prevents that from happening though.

You are not a target.

No one is going to say a thing about the normal man in the street.

I guess this is 'the message' though to these people that benefit from fame. Do not stick your head up too high, or get too full of yourself, we (society) can take it away in an instant.

I agree with you on this one. This just seems like the woman was doing it/putting up with his nonsense to further her career.

However the serious allegations listed here all sound genuinally horrible:

Is society taking it away?

Wow, I'd forgotten about Craig Charles and the Carl Beech stuff. Even now I had to google whether Charles was guilty or innocent because I had a lingering feeling about him being guilty (he wasn't).

So recent high profile cases of accusations ruining or seriously derailing someone's life:

Cliff Richard
Craig Charles
Kevin Spacey
Johnny Depp
Any more?

Cliff Richard was even thought to be too clean so there must be skeletons in his cupboard. Johnny Depp was someone people thought must be guilty because of his lifestyle in a similar way to Brand (I appreciate he was found guilty of one case of defamation but not guilty of assault, while his accuser Heard was found guilty of that).

Still... where there's a pattern they must be guilty eh?

Or as I noted earlier, those who live by the sword die by the sword.

Kevin Spacey, lol?

Any reason for the LOL? Would you like to elaborate and make a point?

I've only kept a small eye on the topic, but the general feeling is that although Spacey broke no laws he definitely behaved in an unfitting / unprofessional manner.

the actor was ordered to pay “House of Cards” production company MRC $31 million for breaching his contract by violating the company’s sexual harassment policy
