Experience and use of landmarks really.. it does take a while though, but a few laps of the road will help. The various online maps may help too.

Yeah it is not that hard after a day or two, you will soon get used to it. Knowing the coast and the rad towns on the road from an online map is the best way to start imo. I have a feeling they have added some extra rocks though, I joined the other night and some things looked a bit different.

I've set up camp just near the forest, near what looks like and abandoned radiated factory/grain storage.

Not really played since chrimbo, thought I`d try out the new changes. Seems to run just as well even though there are graphical changes.
Is its just cocky`s server ransom? I can`t place founds either.

Since the latest update wipe due to rust update had no problem placing a foundation.

I'm currently with a loose group of around 10 on a manic Swedish server. Normally around 100 online which makes things pretty tricky.

We spent a day on server listed as OCuK but the player count was low unfortunately.

If you fancy having a bash with a group give me a shout and will pass you the relevant details.

They only wipe if needed and as the result of a large patch etc.

Server is dead mate

we will keep it up and try to fill again after the next update

Of the 60+ people I added to my friends list from our server hardly any are still playing

This is the one thing i worry about... the game getting boring and small life span.

Are those 60+ people still playing rust on other servers or just not playing full stop?

Most are not playing at all I think, seems as it's alpha most people seem to try it after each update and then drift away again

I still have a lot of contacts from that server playing rust elsewhere..many of them with some serious time in the game.
As with most of these sort of games, it's the people who make it a success or not. Find a good server/community and it will keep you entertained long term. Otherwise you can be end game and bored in just a few days.

nothing much at the minute goon so most are having break. ourlot has a server we play on but i don't put on here. also latest update has messed up with mods people had on servers.

This. I normally play for a few days solid every month or so, then won't play at all for another month. Just takes too much time to maintain a decent base, especially with all the other games I have to play

Got bored of this game couple weeks back, wish i never bought it as it has weak roots. You literally have to play it everyday to maintain a base, thats if it hasnt been broken into....fun?....more like a stressful chore, no thanks.

As above, it really is whatever you make it. In future I think things will change as they implement more 'Things to do'.

I go through stages with it, some days when I'm on with mates I can't put the game down and others I will log on, walk around and gather some nodes and then pack it in after 20 minutes.

The key is socialising, whether it be for good or for bad... interact with people, it makes it so much more fun.
