RX 7600XT 16GB Launched.

4060 should be a $200 card it’s awful so the fact that AMD can’t even beat its current price to performance on a new competitor product released 6 months later sums up the broken GPU market with collusion rather than competition.

You're talking about the 7600? They are about even, which yes i would agree makes the 7600 a bit too expensive. I do think AMD's cards should be cheaper than equivalent Nvidia, just not like some people think by 30 to 40%, in that situation you can only ever have Nvidia cards that are far too expensive because AMD selling something like a 7800XT for $299... well AMD wouldn't bother at all, that is not profitable, they or someone along the chain would lose money on every card they sold.

I’m talking about the 7600XT as this is the 7600XT thread.

Another dull, overpriced release. Roll on the next gen, at least then we'll have a new architecture to learn about while we gawk at the terrible value proposition.
I ducked out of PC gaming when I had a HD5850. I could see the prices creeping up very quickly.I think I remember the HD7950 was about £400? Having 3 kids I was like F that.I just switched to Console gaming at that point.

I paid £230 for mine not long after the big driver drop which gave AMD a hefty performance jump back in 2013.

CPU's were pretty affordable then too, I don't think I paid more than £160 for my i5 3570k.

By console gaming I mean flashed 360 and sailing the high seas ;) And yh I remember the 7950/70 were clocked at only about 800mhz, and it turned out they were fantastic overclockers, getting 1.3ghz was quite common.

I had a Sapphire model that oc'd to the point of being a good 15% + faster than a 7970ghz edition. Definitely one of my better purchases, it was still going strong until 2020 or so too.

I'll go against the grain and say that with a bit of discount this is going to be the card for me.
Why?

I own an RX590 and this card is exactly 2x performance and memory.
IF I can get it under 300€ (which is bound to be in a couple months) I will have doubled my performance for the same price, which is a pretty meaningful upgrade.

The thing is you could have already bought a 6700XT for that price almost anytime during the past year and got a 130% performance increase or even going used there is 6800/6800XT/3080 offering 3x performance for not much more.

Nope, even the 6700 non XT is still above 300€ in Italy, while this card has a definite chance of going below.

£230 in 2013 is £354 today.

£160 is £246 today.

Yeah, its not just a feeling, things were more affordable in those days. What's a 7900XT cost? £750.

On top of that, peoples wages have not gone up 54% in the last decade, no where near....

Even the minimum wage has gone up by more.

It is unfortunate if your salary has not gone up by a similar amount.

2013 minimum wage £6.31

2023 minimum wage £10.42

Average for everyone (once you take into hours) has increased by about 45%.
