Yeah, I understand. Tbf the market will sort out the pricing, but I get the feeling that the manufacturers aren't banking on large scale sales.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Would you guys say now is a good time to buy a Vega 64 considering they OcUK are selling them reduced?
I'm looking to build a new PC but can wait until after Xmas if it makes sense.
Looking at this one:

Newer manufacturing process for smaller die size would help to manufacturing costs. (decreasing also size of interposer)Maybe there's a respin version closer than we think? AMD can't keep going with a few OEM sales at high price and little presence in the market.

But former 14nm+/now called 12nm process shouldn't be ready yet for any kind mass production.
And anyway would expect it to be first used for making smaller cut down Vega, because large chip on new process is always big risk.
Cost is associated with die size and without process shrink that really isn't going to change in any meaningfull way compared to cost of making new physical design. They wouldn't have to go down a process node, just make improvements for the next batch, much as they did between 290/390. Maybe improves cost, speed and power somewhat.

Logically speaking, as the heat/power of a reference Vega 64 is roughly equal to that of an AIB 980ti I would expect that an AIB Vega 64 would be around the same as an AIB 1080ti at worst. Which is of course not good when you consider that's a faster GPU, but it could be much much worse (Fury X I'm looking at you).the heat off the air cooled inside a case must be mental, and i bet they're loud as **** as well
NVIDIA are similar to Apple now. After establishing really fat % profit margins on their successful products, they're not going to tone it down just to be nice.unless Volta is priced so high
Apple do have half decent competition though.NVIDIA are similar to Apple now. After establishing really fat % profit margins on their successful products, they're not going to tone it down just to be nice.
Volta will be pricey, to keep NVIDIA living in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
£650!!!They're loud, at least they are in an M-ATX case, I couldn't live with it so. Personally I'd go for the Red Devil which is on pre-order.
That said it looks like the Strix could fit in my case without modding it so if it does I'll be going for one of those even though it has the usual Asus mark up..

I know, I might of gone for the water-cooled one again but the price will of gone back up by the time I have the money available, plus I would prefer an AIB model, I got a pcie riser cable delivered today so if the Strix doesn't fit I'll get a framework made so I can fit either the Powerdevil or Nitro version instead.
