Ryzen "2" ?

I hardly spent much time on setting up the cpu/ram most of my time was spent on getting Windows up and running as I didn't realise Ryzen did not support Windows 7.
All I did on the bios was enable XFR, set the DOCP profile, at most this would have taken a few minutes.
Have not had any issues, CPU boosts to advertised amount, did not have to really do any OC.

Dates for x490 and b450 appearing: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/bluechip-leaks-amd-intel-chipsets-cpus,37001.html

Jumping into them, we see that AMD apparently has a new flagship chipset for the AM4 socket called Z490. The timeline pegs its reveal for June, at Computex 2018. The apparent successor of the current B350 mid-range chipset, the B450, is set for release later in July.

Maybe x470 is much better but I'm finding it hard to recommend a 2700x over an 8700k to a friend as the Ryzen platform is for tinkerers not for someone who doesn't have the interest or knowhow to stability test.

They just want it to work out of the box.
Well, Intel side isn't exactly that hot looking either with that can of speculative code execution vulnerabilities opened...

Plugging those is likely to add little bit of performance penalty over previous fixes.

Vegeta what does the scouter say about Power level ???
Its OVER TWOHUNDRED hahahaha

Just starting to look for limit of this combo testind 3533cl15 atm so 1 step up from 3466.
This tose are volts ill be using for my 24/7 temps can drop 1-2c in few days when i melt tim down. Since cant use liquid metal due to how warranty is on binned chip :p

Said there is no point of pumping mpre than 1.05 in to SoC :)

The chip it's self is great.

What they've done with the auto overclocking features is pretty impressive.

What is a little less impressive is still ram.

It's not as plug and play as it should be.

It's an enthusiast platform through and through.

what you mean?
I bought a 2600x and just put it in and played.
all default
You now have an option to tinker and tweak if you want but I dont, XFR2 just makes it fantastic
I adjusted the ram but thats like a minute in bios.

buy samsung bdie ram and your golden.
I didnt, I bought cheap ass 3000mhz corsair lpx last year.
No issue

I wonder why that reads over 200W when mine reads 100W.
Cause mine draws over 200w :) 1.425 llc3
Told ya You are limited to stock tdp.

Atm got 4250 on 8 cores ibt and realbench stable :)

Pstate overclocking with all energy saving options turned on downclocks to 2100 in idle with 22w draw :)

Right start memtest and go to bed :)

No, you can't go to bed until you crack 2000!!!!! :P

Yup I can bench 4.3 all core but its not stable and my mem kit does not like 3466cl14 :p going up 50mhz gives around 10 points would need to bench at 4400 to pass 2000

Win 7 works fine with ryzen, you just need the relevant driver/installer from the mobo manufacturer
I mean working out of the box, I did come across various posts about creating custom installers for win 7 with the drivers from mobo manufacturer etc. But I wanted to keep my exisitng install, and I could not find anything on how to get that done, bear in mind this was late night/early morning so maybe I just didn't look hard enough.
Got Win 10 setup now without the auto updates so I think I will be able to live with it.

Guys, would I be wrong to pick up an X470 Crosshair 7 and stick with my 1600X until next year?

Don't like my current MB, but I'm feeling like Ryzen 3000 will arrive with another clock bump, meanwhile Intel will probably have to downclock to deliver 8-cores... And I've given up hoping for micro ATX or ITX; there's too many compromises on layout, cooling and VRMs.

Solid board with insane VRMs and will support the Zen2 CPU's out next year; I don't think you'll have an issue.

If you plan on keeping your 1600x until Ryzen 3000 i think you would be better off looking at a cheap second hand top end X370. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see X570 mobo's at the launch of Ryzen 3000, at that point you would be kicking yourself for grabbing an X470 now.

Just had a quick look and the difference between the CH6 and CH7 isnt much, if buying new I would buy the CH7, second hand I would look for a CH6 which I think is now overpriced :)
