Ryzen "2" ?

If you could that would be great, Its intermittent so doesn't always happen but the only settings I change in Minecraft is from window mode to full screen. Whem it green screens you can press the Windows key to go back to desktop and load it back up and it will be fine for a bit or you can disconnect the HDMI cable and plug it back in.

My son normally plays on the Hy pixel server.

I did have a 9500 on loan from AMD which had RX 5 graphics which I didnt have the issue with so its driver or GPU related on the 2200G, I also done a RMA for the 2200G as well as I thought this was faulty.

Only thing that could be different to me is the ram, I got this

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...l-channel-kit-grey-tlgd48g3000-my-09q-tg.html

I have the same RAM in the 3200MHz version, so pretty much the same stuff I think.

When you say green screen, does it look anything like this?

I didn't get around to installing Minecraft, but this is what happens with Fornite. I can alt-tab and see it go back to normal when it's not the active app, but as soon as Fortnite has focus, it does this.

I'm just updating the chipset and video drivers and I'll report back, but if that's what yours looks like then it would seem to be a bit of a problem with this build...

Mine was completely green screen and using the windows key to minimise the game and bring it back up again sorts it for awhile till it happens again.

Ah, so that sounds quite different.

So installing the latest drivers sorted out that problem. I'll try Minecraft once he's finished playing Fortnite...

I did get something odd though. I tried first to install the whole chipset package that I downloaded from the Gigabyte website for this board. The first time I ran it, it just stopped part way through. It looks like the program just closed, but with no message of any error. I started it again, and it then just seemed to be trying to install the display driver only. The only options are to uninstall the current video driver or install an older version. It's no longer making any reference to Power Plan, RAID drivers, and all the other gubbins you get from chipset drivers. How can I tell if the chipset drivers actually installed or not? I don't see a Ryzen power plan option, so does that indicate they haven't?

DAmmmnn that looks like bad acid trip :D

Had something like it when my 290x packed up :/

Jayztwocents had the same problem with an AMD APU. It turns out AMD had put an old driver on their website which had this bug in it. See: https://youtu.be/heYlWjkVrgY for the link to the fixed driver.

Is the AORUS AMD Ryzen X470 GAMING 7 a good motherboard for a Ryzen 7 2700X?? Or are there any alternatives?? What is a good RAM kit for it??

AFAIK, the Aorus Gaming 7 is strong around the VRMs, but I don't like the m.2 placement (behind the GPU). If I was looking for an X470 in that price range I would be going Crosshair 7. Insanely overkill VRMs and better layout, imo.

Not sure about memory, but you wouldn't be wrong to get some 3200 c14 b-die sticks, either Trident Z or 8-Pack. I believe memory support on the 2000 series and x470 is much better than first gen, but it looks like it's still a bit of a lottery so you may want to improve your odds with the good stuff.

Thanks, any cheaper boards which are any good too?? These seem "cheap" for B-die containing kits:

@CAT-THE-FIFTH bear in mind that many Ryzen systems, even 2nd gen, struggle to get above 3200 on the memory. You'll not be wrong with 8-pack's sets either way though, just don't expect it to actually run 4000 :)

As for other boards, you might want to check out the Actually Hardcore Overclocking channel on youtube for some interesting PCB teardowns and analyses. This is probably a good starting point, but you'll find a full breakdown of the Crosshair 7 on there too (which he rates as massive ridiculous overkill - which is why I like it) plus several others at lower price points.

TLDR, all the cheap-midrange boards lie about VRM phases. The best ones do real phase doubling, the worst just use pairs of parallel mosfets, which yes gives you more power throughput, but no it does not count as two phases because they are in step with each other. (Also Asus TUF is garbage tier, and frankly all the Gigabytes except their best are a bit poop. Just tossing that out there.)

Thanks - I will have a look at the video.

He says the same thing about all MSI boards and all but the most expensive ASRock boards. so what is actually left sub £250 for anyone to buy?

This is what i find so frustrating about people like him, to him everything below a very high price is utter garbage, he's a bit of a hardware snob, which really isn't very helpful when you don't money to burn.
