Ryzen "2" ?

Looking forward to Ryzen2. If it consistently gets better clocks and they have improved the memory controller for DRAM (i.e. sorted out the whole 3200Mhz issues), then I'll probably pony up to replace my 1600.

I'm basically waiting for zen2 for my long awaited i5 750 upgrade. Had been thinking about coffee lake but Intel really annoyed me with their nonsense paper launch before Christmas. I was waiting for stock for weeks/months even of the 8400 for my nephews PC build, in the end got a bargain on a 1700x when AMD dropped the price of the whole line up (got 3 free decent games too with ASUS ROG). I reckon the single core performance will get a decent nudge with zen2 which is Intels only real USP over Ryzen.

The clock rates for the Ryzen 7 2700X read in a benchmark are at 3.7 GHz in the base and at 4.1 or even 4.2 GHz in the turbo. At the same time, the recurring Ryzen 5 2600 with 3.4 GHz in the base and over 3.8 GHz in the turbo is determined. The fluctuations could also be due to the Extended Frequency Range (XFR) and Prescision Boost 2.0. The latter had already worked perfectly with the AMD Ryzen 3 2200G and Ryzen 5 2400G (test) , but there was no XFR there.

3.7/4.1 sounds nice for the 2700x.

Hopefully the 2800x is MAYBE a 4.0/4.4 if we're lucky? (probably more likely a 3.9/4.2 kinda thing)

This would then give hope for some 2700 overclocking

Really hoping the 2---X models actually have some headroom over their rated turbo/XFR frequencies... would be happy to see 4.5 on the goldens and 4.3 on the lemons.

The fact that the presumably second-highest model has a turbo of over 4GHz out of the box (if this leak is to be believed) is a great sign. Many first-gen Ryzen chips couldn't even quite hit 4GHz with manual overclocking, let alone stock.

For ryzen 1 golden samples could get only XFR speeds, might be the same here with 2, nothing above.

I'm not sure I can hold out much longer. I suppose it depends on what Zen+ is like.

10-15% performance jump from Ryzen 7 1800X to Ryzen 7 2800X is absolutely fantastic.
Plus a new X470 chipset and everything looks bright.

With Ryzen the enthusiasts found that you can overclock the 1700 up to the speeds of beyond the x and 1800's.

Would AMD react to this with the new lineup and lock multipliers in an effort to force people to buy the faster chips?

One of their major selling points for Ryzen was that the entire lineup was unlocked and supported overclocking, unlike the competition...
