Ryzen "2" ?

I don't think so - would need to see the block diagram for the mobo, I just dont think the chips on these cheaper 10GbE Nics are as good as the Intel or Mellanox alternatives.

The 10GbE NICs I tested were all on a PCIE slot directly connected to the CPU - and I've just corrected my post, its not ASMedia who are producing the chips on the NICs its Aquantia

Gotcha.

Intel NIC's are hands down the best I've used. The only problem is usually price.

Its a real killer unfortunately - I'm going 10Gb+ at home this year hopefully, currently the best option seems to be second hand Mellanox 10 Gb cards for £30ish a go - not RJ45 though :/

Luckily I only have 2 systems that need more than 1Gb at the mo so I can skip the expense of a switch for the time being.

The HBA route is trickey, but yeah it can work and is smart way to setup on a budget. Just be ultra careful if you use FC for the cabling.

The reality of it will probably more like;

2700X £329
2700 £299
2600X £229
2600 £199

Why? Ryzen 1 launch prices were bang on US prices (once you add VAT). The pound is much stronger than it was this time last year, so I think the following is more accurate, unless there is an initial shortage of parts:

2700X £289
2700 £259
2600X £199
2600 £169

i.e. rounding up from US prices (except R5 2600 since it's so close). If these aren't launch prices I think they will almost definitely be the "stable price" after a couple of weeks.

You can pick up 8700K's for £299 I can't see AMD pricing the 2700X higher than a 8700K... I think these are going to come in very close to the 1600/1600X/1700/1700X price range with a slight markup and directly replace them.

What was the retail on a high end board at launch? £170ish?
Probably going with the Taichi, MAYBE the ultimate, I might just sack it off as un-needed.
10GbE - eh, I got Intel dual port cards + onboard between the only 2 machines I care about network bandwidth on. It'll do.
Power button. I got a screwdriver.
Colour - ahhh, ok, yeah, that's basically sold it then

Nope his prices are pretty spot on. ;)

Just done a big Ryzen price drop today making OcUK the cheapest with 1800X at £269, 1700X at £239, 1600X at £155 and 1600 at £139 so the older gen 1 Ryzen fall in line nicely with the gen 2 Ryzen as both will run along side each other for some months. :)
