But does it matter?: "Moving on to multi-threaded performance, the six core Ryzen 5 3600 puts on a mightily impressive showing, handily outpacing Intel’s 8 core, 8 thread i7 9700K and coming within a whisper’s distance from Intel’s 8 core, 16 thread i9 9900K"
Again, if the leaks turn out to be true.
And for £185, I'm prepared to give it a few breaks even if it comes in just below.
Whats the long term upgradability like for a 3600? I'm just contemplating whether the true value this year is a solid AMD board with a 3600 + stock cooler and then upgrade next year or so.
Surely AMD's main advantage is still the fact that its not a dead end. Correct me if I'm wrong but if the 3600 can rival the 8700k/9700k and provide a clear upgrade path then we can put the price difference between the 3600 and 9900k/3700x towards a NEW CPU next refresh.
I somehow think however that these 3600 rumours are just false. If AMD are now beating the 8700k with the bottom end CPU, then its game over and I'm happy for it because I'll literally make a budget build tommorow with one, just for the fact that I can upgrade next year.
Finally I'll have a pricing landscape where it will not be completely crazy to have a lounge PC and a desk PC too.
