Don’t forgot ‘Covid related issues’
Every business in the world seems to be using this excuse at the moment
FWIW, I commited to this route (including ordering a 3080) and now I feel a bit stuck.i wanted to go ahead and order most of my system and then buy a 5000 series later but im beginning to think with this and the 3000 series nvidia debacle that i might be better off waiting ha ha

I hope there is decent stock on release.
It's been 10 years since a CPU/mobo/RAM upgrade for me.
I've built a new machine about a month ago, which is now sitting back in the box the case came in to keep the dust out of everything just waiting for this new CPU.
Needless to say, I am very keen to get my hands on a Zen 3 CPU asap, but I've waiting so long now I won't give in and just get a 3xxx if there are stocks issues.
But it'll annoy me, a lot. I have this gut feeling it'll be nearer Christmas before there is good availability but I hope I'm wrong.
That's very sensible. In my case I'll stick with the 3080 if it arrives before the RDNA 2 event (there's no guarantee of availability for those) but if that event shows something worth waiting for I may delay all my plans.I'm kinda (subject to real world benchmarks) going full team red for a long time. I imagine we'll see plenty of others do the same, all I'm hoping out for is the AMD GPUs being under £550 or so (could be wishful thinking), cause the 20GB Nvidia 3080s are easily going to be £850-1000, and 16GB team red at £550 could be absolutely nuts.
I had been 5900X and 3080 but that's shifted over time, not pulling any triggers until benchmarks though.
I would like to think that a CPU won't be as crazy as a GPU launch, but I'm recently scarred by my 3080 experience.I seriously hope OC has a decent stock level. It seems a lot of people are waiting to finalise a build or upgrade (me included as a first build).
It would make good business sense if they revealed stock levels prior to sale so we can all get a good idea if whether we can buy one this year or not
its easier to swap just gpu in your rig.. but with new amd cpus you have to remember that they will use existing x570 mobos so people will have an easy upgrade pathI would like to think that a CPU won't be as crazy as a GPU launch, but I'm recently scarred by my 3080 experience.
True, but with smaller gains available for most people (and the better value SKUs not available yet), we'll see.its easier to swap just gpu in your rig.. but with new amd cpus you have to remember that they will use existing x570 mobos so people will have an easy upgrade path
I'll be watching with great interest for sure, even tho I'm not planning to buy for another 6 months, to let prices settle.I would like to think that a CPU won't be as crazy as a GPU launch, but I'm recently scarred by my 3080 experience.
That's awfully cruel!I'll be watching with great interest for sure, even tho I'm not planning to buy for another 6 months, to let prices settle.
The nV launches so far have been comedy gold; AMD might provide a few laughs of their own
