RYZEN 5000 SERIES NOW ONLINE - 5950X, 5900X, 5800X & 5600X COMING NOV 5TH AT 5PM **NO COMPETITORS**

The likely reason is the 5800X has to have a full 8 core CCD. The 5900X is two 6 core CCDs, one of which is a pretty low bin.

8 core CCDs are likely to be quite a bit more harder to come across than 6 core CCDs.

I would guess that the 8 core CCD used for the 5800x would also be lower binned, with the better 8 core CCD all going to 5950x cpus. Is this not correct?

Almost certainly, but that doesn't mean it's not rarer than the 6 core parts.

If the 5950X is like the 5900X then it will have a weaker CCD and a stronger CCD. The weaker CCD is likely to be similar to a 5800X CCD. whilst the stronger will be a higher tier bin.

Hi there

Also this moring I have sourced some grey stock at huge expense but they should land before Christmas and though we lose as much as £100 per CPU on some of these lines Overclockers UK wants to do everything it can to ensure people can get some CPUs before Christmas as such we have the following due to land around 14th December from grey supplier, I shall also include our cost on these items so you can see how much money we lose compared to what you the customer paid:

5950X - 30pc due and our cost £657.44 excluding VAT (£788.93 with VAT)
5900X - 50pc due and our cost £575.17 excluding VAT (£690.20 with VAT)
5800X - 15pc due and our cost £403.14 excluding VAT (£483.77 with VAT)
5600X - 14pc due and our cost £298.43 excluding VAT (£358.12 with VAT)

So when you see companies with stock selling way way beyond MSRP it is not always because they are scalping, it is simply because they had to pay a lot more.

We are expecting 2021 to be an insane year with consistent hardware shortages, as to why components are so short, particular GPU's is unknown but with Bitcoin approaching record highs, new consoles, new mobile phones ,there is a lot of rumours as to why there are severe shortages. :(

Any further news on this? 'Due to land around 14th December' i.e. should be arriving at OCUK some time this week?

@Gibbo

@Gibbo

The grey stock varies massively on how long it takes to arrive unfortunately, so we are still waiting to receive, at the current rate the large volumes of official stock may arrive sooner.

Anyone know if there will be an opportunity to join a 'new' queue once the current pre-orders clear, or will it be a case of getting lucky and being online during the few minutes between the arriving stock being released and it selling out again?

We are presently not taking orders I am afraid.

Once we have stock piled enough CPU's we will re-open ordering on them but it will probably be after Christmas now.

No worries. Thanks for the fast response.

Also cheers for your update in the pinned thread - should bring some joy to a lot of people here:

Current update:
5950X - All backorders cleared, a nice pile of stock is now building up, we will allow re-ordering just before Christmas. :)
5900X - Just shy of 400 back orders now to clear, expecting around 60 units potentially this week and hopefully several hundred next week.
5800X - Only 86 orders left to clear, we expect around 60 this week and several hundred before month end.
5600X - 541 orders left to clear, were expecting around 300 this week and several hundred more by month end.
We are still on goal to have cleared all the orders by year end and hopefully have product back on sale. :)

Another update!

An additional 100pc of 5800X are due this week, which will clear all backlog, expect to see shipments next week.
An additional 500pc of 5600X are due this week, which will clear over 90% of backlog, expect to see shipments next week.

ocuk zen 3 price on the up.
Stock inbound. If these are the buy it now prices then they look broadly similar to other shops but if they are pre order prices then they are a little steep. Although I have seen quite a few shops charging more than this. E.g 650 for a 5900x

With stock situation looking better and backlog cleared for 5950x, are OcUK going to start pricing competitively with other retailers @Gibbo ?

110 over what it can be had for elsewhere (with a bit of patience) is too much for me!

Will prices stabilise in the new year?

I see stock coming into various competitors all day but I havent pulled the trigger on a 5800x yet. I currently have a 6700k and thinking of upgrading but dont want to buy now if in a few weeks they be regularly pricing.

Interestingly despite this, the competitor based near Portsmouth who were gouging absolutely outrageously have now completely removed the entire 5000 series from their website, and the URLs for the individual CPUs say "No Longer For Sale". I emailed their customer support and they said it was because they didn't know when they'd next be getting stock so they'd decided to remove them from the site for now. Seems mental to me....
