Anyone know anything about the high temperatures of the 5600x, Im gettin 80-85c on full load, I seen this thread on reddit;

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/jpfsv3/high_temps_ryzen_5_5600x/

Im on B450 tomahawk max...also the CPUEZ light is on, other report this light too, but all seems ok.....excpt for high temps I guess, reapplied thermal paste and nothing really changed just down 3-4c

Cooler im using is Wraith Prism

Congrats! I'm now 260 in the queue and desperate for a gaming rig for my 2 weeks of work at Christmas, I might cancel and get a 5800xt which seem readily available atm
Thanks! I also wanted it for my 2 weeks off over Christmas, but sadly I'm still 57th in queue for my 3080 tuf non oc, so there's still a wait before I get to enjoy it.

I would suggest getting a decent aftermarket cooler. I'm running a 5800x with a 360mm AIO which in theory is overkill, but it isn't.

A decent air cooler though should be fine and not particularly expensive. I can't remember, there are 2 really good ones for well under £50, one is a noctua, the other a scythe, but I don't remember the specific models sorry.

Its within spec, designed to boost if they have the thermal overhead so even if you bolt a better cooler on it should in theory just boost higher/longer and stay at a similar temp

Been really impressed with the change from my 3900X to 5950X. I mean I'm obviously not seeing huge performance gains in general as the 3900X was a brilliant processor, but games have seen a small but noticeable increase as I game at 4K.

Temps are slightly higher, my 3900 would idle at around 30-35 and sit at around 68-70 when gaming, whereas my 5950 idles around 35-40 and sits at around 70-74 when gaming. That's with an X62 Kraken

boost speeds are amazing in comparison, I made the same move, almost identical observations with the temps too. running a corsair h150i pro AIO

Yeah my 3900 was a bad chip in terms of reaching the advertised boost speed, I think I'd get 4.15 max, whereas this will happily sit at 4.9 all day according to benchmarks

Any word on more stock of the 5900X or do they still get eaten up by scalpers within seconds ?
5900x's are the highest on back order in most places and are mostly being sucked up that way, 5950x looks to be getting fully filled a lot sooner so may drop in price nearer the inflated 5900x prices, if that's of interest to you

Yeah they been in stock for ages tbh. Not a surprise being £40 over the RRP which is a big markup in terms of % for particular chip.

Yeah, £40 is a bit of markup but doesn't look like i'm getting one from OCUK before Christmas (514 in the que) sadly. Now I just need to find a 3080 or 6800xt in stock somewhere :D

I just picked up a 5900x for 580 - seems like 10% is the going uplift at the moment:eek:. 5900x seems to be around 560 at the minute and I think it will stay this way into Jan.

Aye I have given up tbh. My last attempt at a 5950x was cancelled as they oversold it even though I phoned to confirmed one was allocated to me and they said yes so now I am awaiting for a friend whom is very kindly sending me his 3900x as stop gap till I can purchase later. Hopefully that will be dispatched today along with waterblock for the 6900xt and I can get my build sorted for the xmas break.
