RYZEN 5000 SERIES NOW ONLINE - 5950X, 5900X, 5800X & 5600X COMING NOV 5TH AT 5PM **NO COMPETITORS**

Yep agree with you mate.

I am fighting hard to resist the urge to switch out my 3950X at the moment.

Not knowing your personal situation of course, but I'd wait it out until the successor of AM4 launches and then max out on whatever the final CPU is. I try not to second guess it now as they often seen to produce surprise SKUs :)

Have mobo prices jumped a lot since 2700x release?
I got my Asus CH VII Wifi for I think £250? Equivalent (VIII) is £440 now?

Hi all. New to this forum. Please to make your acquaintance!

So I have an ageing fx8350 mated to a 1080ti. Yes, I know... It is serving me well however VR gaming. I've been waiting for zen 3 and felt this is the right upgrade path. Then I think what good value zen 2 is and indeed how capable.

So I went out and bought a 9 3900x for £360 new. Thought that was great value. Then I see the zen 3 single core performance and wondering I should return this and wait a while for a 7 5800x

Any thoughts? First world problems, eh?!

Depends if you need the high refresh gaming performance or not.

I'd like to upgrade for FS2020 but that's the only game I play that needs it atm. Going to be getting into VR with the reverb G2 but not sure if that will make use of it in anything other than FS2020, and by the time VR is working DX12 will probably be implemented anyway.

If you can easily afford it, yes. Do you really need it? Probably not.

Still waiting for it to arrive actually. Purchased from Italy, but can still return for free. Really thought the price I paid for such a behemoth chip was great. Then came the benchmarks. Although must remember these are based on very small (n=1) numbers and unknown circumstances.

What's happening on the 5th then @Gibbo ? Will it be every man, woman, dog, scalper and bot for themself or will there be some form of queue system / CAPTCHA / one per person etc.?
Will it be a case of cancelling the order / returning if anyone manages to purchase one from another web store?

Yeah I'm really worried it will be slaughter at 5pm and most sites will just go down. I don't really understand why we can't have preorders to avoid the huge rush all at the same time - but I'm guessing it's out of Gibbo's control, if he could he would have put them up for preorder.

The other thing that worries me is the choice of time - if the ordering opens at 5pm, surely none of these orders ship the same day, the next day(Friday) at the earliest, right? Meaning most of us(who manage to order) won't even get those CPUs before Monday. It's a bit of a shame really.

I personally built the rest of a brand new PC already(X570 Tomahawk, 32GB Ram, moving my old 1080Ti over, Fractal Meshify C case), just waiting for the CPU - going for the 5900X, god my fingers are crossed super hard hoping there will be enough supply :p

And yes, as I know this was a point of discussion earlier - I'm happy to pay OC's slightly higher price if it means there is stock, no problem at all.

Similar boat, X570 MSI MEG Unify, 32GB RAM, AM4 mount and thermal paste sitting under my bed. Going 5900X too and have OcUK and a couple of other websites on favourites. If i manage to get one from multiple sites i'll happily sell on to someone on here who needs it (for the same price i paid, plus delivery)

Similar boat here. Everything already built. Really hoping there's not the same drama as there was for the 30xx launch. Stock levels will obviously be key. Definitely an odd time to launch though. Have to decide between risking next day delivery and potentially not getting it until Monday, or pay for Saturday delivery and potentially get it later than everyone else :D

I fear it'll be an absolute cluster****, website crashing, probably half way through trying to take a payment, then did I order? Didn't I? Can't log back in etc, check an hour later, out of stock see you next year......

I do remember Gibbo saying there would be '1000s ordered' Somewhere on one of the pages of this thread

The thing is, nothing has been mentioned about handling of web traffic, so if OcUK gets hit with loads of genuine, bot or ddos traffic then enthusiats are screwed (again).
Unless web services have been moved to cloud AWS/Azure with something like cloudflare ddos protection and CAPTCHA. Doubtful as this would cost money and take time.

When I was trying to get a 3080 I hit a SQL error page on OcUK that said web limit of 500 or something even smaller had been reached! Any big release is going to cripple most on prem website that cannot auto scale unless there are adequate servers to cope with traffic

It would be intersting to know the OcUK IT infrastructure regarding website server hosting

Part of me would like to see it happen and if they've got stock levels right see the resellers wipe themselves out trying to game the system.

I'm almost ready with my build. I have Tomahawk x570, 64GB RAM in hand and will be ordering case and cooler later this week.

The website holding up is a real concern. Also seems like they are hosting this forum on the same server as the shop site, which is strange choice.

They used to be hosted with TSOHost a few years back. A very decent host, but looks like they aren't any more. They appear to be on a mysterious host that doesn't list services offered.. all hidden behind a get in touch web form.

Well... If they haven't increased their server resources or have a queue system setup to access the site on Zen3 lauch day, then the exact same thing will happen as what happened with the 3080 launch.

Would be nice to hear from someone at OC on this.

Good point RE the forum. It was down most of the day for me on the 3080 launch

They close at 5:30 dont they? Unless the site holds up, and there is stock, even then. I think its unlikely they are going to go out the evening of the 5th for Fri delivery?

I know another shop that says 5pm cut off, but they try and get any orders by 5:25 out that night. Guess it really depends how staffed they are etc.

Same boat, unless I hear otherwise, Ill probably pay for Sat delivery, Im working Fri anyway so couldnt build until the evening. This rig needs to come apart, so leaving it until I have the CPU.
Really hope its not another 3080 fiasco.
