RYZEN 5000 SERIES NOW ONLINE - 5950X, 5900X, 5800X & 5600X COMING NOV 5TH AT 5PM **NO COMPETITORS**

So do we reckon demand for these CPUs at launch window will be less than the NV graphics cards windows? I'm hesitant to try and order one from here given the site fell over with those last couple of launches...

I doubt it'll be the same. I didn't try to get one, but both the website and forum seemed fine this time, when the 3070 launched.

I haven't heard that in ages, brings back memories!

What's everyone's plan for release day? I'm going to skip through to the gaming benchmarks in a couple of reviews and see which of the 5800X or 5900X does better, while simultaneously trying to buy one of them.

I'll probably order on the 5th and take advantage of the return process that lasts until the end of January. It'll give me plenty of time to view the details and decide whether to open the box.

The 3900x had supply issues shortly after release that led to price gouging from the usual suspects, so I can't see this launch going any better from that point of view.

Yes, both intel and amd users were after them whilst these will mostly be after one side of the spectrum.

Well, I'm on an i7-4790K, so literally anything will be better, and I do have a budget for 5900X so that's what I'm going for. Rest of the PC already built. On launch day will have every single store page open and trying to get through the checkout on one of them, with OC getting priority. Paying for Saturday delivery, assuming orders ship as normal on Friday.
Same, i'll also be posting my current motherboard, CPU (i7 4790k also) and RAM on Tuesday.

I'm thinking(hoping) the same - as great as these AMD CPUs are, there is still *A LOT* of people buying intel parts no matter what, so the market is somewhat limited compared to these new Nvidia cards. And again, as good as they are, they are not quite as revolutionary as the 30xx Nvidia cards were on the GPU side of things - unless you want the cutting edge, then Ryzen 3X00 series is probably a better buy right now anyway - just get a 3600 and you're set for a long time. 5000 series also has nothing to offer to people with say < £250 budgets, and that's plenty of people again.

What would be the logical upgrade for me? I have a 2700X and was leaning towards the 5600X and X570 board unless the B550 (I think it is) would be sufficient. I don't plan to overclock as I've never done it, on the CPU anyway.

Thinking about price to performance but want to keep cost down, so B550 is looking likely.

B550 has 5xxx support out the box right?

Same boat (non x though here) and I am opting for a 5600x.. B450 boards will support the CPU but not until a BIOS update which is due in January I believe.

I don't think I'll be going for day 1 purchase, it's always a risk with Ryzen as the bugs get ironed out. I want a drop in upgrade, not a drop in headache :p

There's too many good games releasing over the next 6 weeks and I want to enjoy them.

I went straight in with 1st gen Zen (1600) for my stepson. Not...one...single...problem.

His previous Pentium Z77 platform was a joke.

Stop perpetuating myths.

Ah, you have experience of a different series therefore I must be perpetuating a myth.

There were plenty of people frustrated with the RAM issues with 2000 series and the BIOS bugs with the 3000 series.

Nope just saying that you can't say that AMD is bad/risky when Intel has plenty of problems. My system sometimes needs the ram removed and reinserted singly to make it boot.

What has Intel got to do with it, we're talking about Ryzen. Honestly, I could understand this fanboi pish if the average poster was 12 years old.

Utter cringe.

I'm looking for an upgrade to my 3600 now my RTX 3080 has arrived. Waiting to see the real world benchmarks in gaming for 5800X vs 3900XT later this week to see which one is really better given the proximity in pricing.

Not long to go now. The mobo and ram have just turned up. Just a couple more pieces to the puzzle! Anyone know when the 5000 series CPU review and benchmarks will be released?

edit - I called an OcUK competitor who recently removed the price and date of availablility of the 5000 series CPUs. I was told the prices were added to the website "in error" What BS. More like they are waiting until the day of release and wacking prices up to the same as OcUK / other stores.

Out of interest, why have the prices increased on OcUK, do they run off RRP / other websites or just consumer demand? i.e. these types of threads

Nice, when did you buy your Tomahawk? Mine has just arrived, so I don't know if the bios has already been updated for the 5000 series.
Guess I'll have to flash the bios without knowing before putting everything together.

A couple of weeks ago now. I flashed it just to be sure. Just plugged the PSU in on a table.
