Ryzen 5700X coming for $300

Well, I would call a 6700 or 3060 a mid range GPU. I refuse to fall for the price jiggery-pokery they pulled. Currently running a RX570 4GB

128bit memory bus is a low end card, cache or no cache

inhad a 580 but it started to die so have to pull the trigger. Tbf the 6600xt runs everything I play in high settings and hits my 144mhz cap.

also the 6600xt outperform the 3060 in lots of games. So it must be mid range if it out performing a gpu you call mid range

5700X or 12600K that's the question im trying to answer as im about to pull the trigger on getting parts for my next build. I know the 5700X will be the cooler system in terms of temperature. However the 12600K is newer tech and have room for improvement when linked with DDR5 / PCI-E 5.0 etc etc.

The model i got is still £450, but it still hurts when i have only had the gpu about 2 weeks

To be fair, two weeks ago literally everyone was saying "hold fire on a new GPU, prices are tumbling.."

Whatever, just relax and enjoy it. You only live once, etc. :)

If I was building today I'd go intel personally.

At least you'll have scope for upgrades, with Ryzen short of swapping out the cpu for say a 5900x etc there's nothing more you can do.

Either way both would do what you need them to for many years as modern hardware seems to be more than enough for 99% of tasks.

Almost identical performance in gaming to a 12600k, so pulling the trigger on Intel or AMD comes down to price of motherboard and other factors like longevity of AM4 v LGA1700.

Intel seems to run cooler.

Every UK retailer I've seen either has nothing or says 6th April ... I did check very early this morning however, so maybe a few have updated since then!

(I should re-check really!)

I know we can't name retailers but there's one with stock currently.

To be fair it did show pre-order earlier in the day.

Haha ... I stand corrected there!

In any case ... I'll wait until OCUK hopefully get some stock, as I've still got a few more parts to spec up for my new machine before I order

Cracking new line of chips. I quite like the look of the 5500, 5600 or maybe 5700X for my son in the future when his 2600 isn't doing it's thing anymore. Just nabbed a 5900x for myself at the much better pricing.

Seems straight forward to me, for a new build. Go with a LGA1700 system, as you will be able to upgrade to Intel's 13th gen if you want to, it's not that far off.

The 12600 (non K) would be a good CPU in the mean time, just boost the clocks as high as they will go.

Didn't Intel make 11th gen on 4 series Z490 or H470 boards only?

Still OCUK hasn't listed the 5700X to order yet ... I might has well just go for the 12600K.

Anyone else done a 12600K ITX build recently ? Im about to pull the trigger on the following.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £953.96 (includes delivery: £0.00)

I could save about £150 by going for a B660-I, but what features will I lose, if any that actually matter to me.

I already have a 3060Ti FE, SF 750 PSU, CM NR200P Case, WD SN850 2TB, 2 x Noctua fans for the bottom of the case and Noctua U9S for cooling ready to go for it.

wrong thread pal

I was considering the 12700K. However I don’t think there is enough thermal headroom to run at 190W for long periods if any meaningful duration at all. The 5700X has got my interest as it is a 65W TDP so about 88W. I have a 5800X so I’m guessing the performance is not too far on a 5800X on ECO 65W settings and runs a lot cooler.
