Ryzen 5700X coming for $300

Yup...

It also kills off the 5800X, the 5700X is basically the same CPU, with a few tweaks it can be made exactly the same, if not better given its newer silicon and probably a B2 stepping.

Edit: i do think once they are out in the wild and people who know what they are doing play with it it will show up my 5800X which is a golden sample.

And by people who know what they are doing i don't mean tech journalists, they are clueless, i mean real enthusiasts.
I told my brother to wait for the 5700X so he'll be getting one this week to replace his 3700X which in turn is replacing the 3100 in his other machine so I'll be having a play with it at the weekend to see what it can do.

the only place i can find with a 5600 in stock is 196, and the 5600x can be had for 202.
the 5600 doesn't come with a cooler, a lot of people just run stock coolers. you cant get a cooler for £6 a lot of people will buy the 5600x just because of the cooler.

The full retail version of the 5600 with cooler can be had for £180. Not sure why OcUK haven’t got it in stock yet.

Why is it dead in the water?
Because the 5600 non X is cheaper while basically being the same CPU, same TDP etc so all you need to do is add a +200mhz offset in the PBO settings to turn it into the 5600X. Similar principle with the 5700X and 5800X although the difference in TDP means a few more settings need to be adjusted.

With the 5700X set PPT to about 130 watts, that will override the 65 watt power limit, its probably set to 76 like the 5600X.

Also TDC to 95A and EDC to 140A

Add some ram for £50 and that's a cracking stup for 320 quid.

Yeah, at worst its as quick as a 12400F, at best quite a bit quicker, this in games and productivity, GN review.

So typically for Intel CPU's under £200 there is limited stock, but i have found one, a single one in stock at the same price as the 5600.

But then, again typically for Intel we get to motherboards, the cheapest one i could find, that isn't complete junk (i did the same for the 5600) this is the cheapest motherboard i could find, Its £134.

This makes the 12400F setup £365, which is still quite good, but not good enough.

AND its cheaper, AND the motherboard as a future, AND it supports DDR5, AND it supports PCIe 5
Why do we keep telling people to buy AMD?

Out of habit I guess. It's almost like a reflex now on forums based on how the market changed. Still feels weird that Intel was pitched as the underdog after htier hold on the market and some outright flops amd had. Even Intel didn't come out with anything as bad as bulldozer in relation to what performance was available elsewhere!

The sensible choice is to wait if possible to see what Zen 4 brings to the table. If someone is adamant they want to build today then I'd recommend Intel without hesitation.

if decent priced then maybe so but if you a gamer there isnt much point tbh. might as well go intel.
Tbh either you're not really going to go wrong with either choice now that AMD have cut prices while any differences in gaming will only show at 1080p with a high end card.

12400 often beats 5800x in games nevermind 5600. :D

Its just not is it?

The 5600 vs 12400 best showing. +24% to the 5600.

The 12400 vs 5600 best showing. +5% to the 12400.

Its the same CPU at the 5600X, it has a token lower clock. even in FC6 is beats the 10900K, i mean c'mon... can we at least admit it was poop.

Nice, if ones lucky to get one at £100 off... I keep an eye on ebay when 5-10 go on sale at retail prices bought by mistake or no longer needed. :p

There's been a few times now things have sold at the wrong price, a while ago it was 12700k's.
