What is that you’re using to test the curve optimzer? Also does it work without Ryawn master as for some reason it won’t install on my system

I take it you mean Ryzen Master Tool? Yes RMT is an optional download. It allows you to control some CPU/Memory settings in Windows. I'm not a huge fan of it myself, I prefer going through the BIOS. However, the one main benefit of Ryzen Master Tool in my eyes is that it is the only app that truly allows you to poll (monitor) which cores are asleep and which are awake. All other monitoring apps show you the last reported CPU frequency.

Depends what you want to do with the software. Bare in mind that changing most things will require the system to restart and it'll make the changes in the BIOS for you then take you back to Windows.
 
It boggles my mind that no one seems able to compute this simple idea. Including, more or less, HUB & Gamer's Nexus.

- I want a PC that performs very well in games, somewhere near the best
- I want a PC that performs very well in productivity, somewhere near the best
- I'd like it to be pretty power efficient, especially under all-core productivity workloads
- I'd like a lot (like 64GB) of system RAM for productivity, so it would be great if I could buy fairly cheap RAM with slack timings & not suffer too much of a performance hit
- I'd like it to offer a good upgrade path
- I'm prepared to pay something of a premium to tick all these boxes at once.

The 7950x3D & 7900x3D answer that question. Can't for the life of me work out why that's so hard for people to understand.

If pure gaming is the aim, then wait for the 7800x3D, or get a 13600k, or a 7700x with fast RAM, or 5800x3D & keep money in your pocket.

This is truthful, though for point one, the 7950x3D has the gaming performance crown. It's overall faster than the 13900KS in games, at stock.

There's not that much debate here, just a few posters (we know who) that can't accept Intel losing/reality and spam these threads with false truths about Intel being more efficient and faster.

Years of fervent Intel shilling, warping logic to create an imaginary performance lead for Intel and excusing their power consumption and now you're calling people out for the same?!

I love the new Dave, Lol. Although, it is a little odd. I won't believe it until I see him up and running with one of the X3D parts though. :cry:

So I'm not entirely sure what the reasoning is but why is the 3D L3 cache only on one CCD? Can't they keep the information on said cache only for those cores or does it have to be all in one package?

It has to be part of the same package for efficiency, to put it outside of the CCD would increase latency etc as you’d need to communicate with it via the infinity fabric and increase latency etc.

a normal full CCD is 8C/16T with 32MB of L3 cache all part of the same die. The 3D cache is an extra 64MB mechanical stacked on top with silicon via’s that effectively wire it directly to the die and make it act like it’s Just an extension to the existing 32M…

I ‘think’ the other CCD can access it, but due to latency/bandwidth of the infinity fabric, it’s costs too much in performance.

its because vcache is per CCD so if you had both chiplets with vcache you would have an issue of latency and cache coherency if the game spread itself across both.

It maybe Zen5 with its new architecture sorts that out, who knows Red Gaming Tech tends to speculate and make guesses on these things if you're interested.

I've been an Intel fan over the years (last AMD CPU was an FX-60 on socket 939), though it was impossible to deny that Zen4 X3D would simply be faster and hugely more efficient.

I now own both Intel and AMD, having one or the other in my gaming and VR rigs (I need my VR setup in a different room). I've used my 13900k side by side with a R5 7600 and R7 7700, and have been very impressed by both. The 7600 only really struggled driving the 4090 (at 4K) in Cyberpunk and Spiderman, the majority of games run really well, which for a £239 CPU is wild. Being able to directly compare both is fun and rewarding.

I've got my 7950X3D on order, looking forward to joining the club :)

Step-by-Step Guide for Maximizing Performance with AMD Ryzen 7000 Series and 3D V-Cache Technology:

  1. Update your BIOS to the latest one available. This will ensure the intended performance and functionality of the AMD Ryzen 7000 Series with AMD 3D V-cache.
  2. Enable Game Mode in Windows by going to "Settings / Gaming / Game Mode" and turning it on.
  3. Update the Xbox Game Bar App to the latest version.
  4. Install the required Chipset Driver (version 5.01.03.005 or newer). After installation, restart the system and verify that the device manager has "AMD 3D V-Cache Performance Optimizer" and that the "AMD 3D V-Cache Performance Optimizer Service" is running. Also, verify that the "amd3dvcacheUser.exe" program is running in the task manager.
  5. Run "Process Idle Tasks" by opening the command prompt as an administrator and entering "Cmd.exe /c start /wait Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks". This may take some time (up-to 15 minutes), so try not to touch the keyboard or mouse during the process.
  6. Verify the KGL Version Loaded by pressing "Win+G" to open the Xbox Game Bar App and check that the KGL Version Loaded is the same as the KGL Service Version.

Card just set to 2900, 2650 fast, 15%
System memory not playing very nice with the bios im on, not working great with m die. Got some nice A die coming next week so that will improve things.

@LtMatt do you use a CPU guard thing because you use liquid metal? I've not used it since the 4790k delid days.
I'm kinda tempted to delid whichever CPU I get.
