What I would say is and this is just my opinion/thought train, if gaming only wait it out. If doing light production, the 7900 is a valid option. If you are doing lots of production and have the money to burn the 7950 it is.

Right now, I don’t know if I’ve gone the right direction for purely gaming. What I do know is, given the price reduction (and I had gift card at the place I purchased from) the 7900 looked right me.

I'm stuck in the motherboard minefield anyway so no rush either way

Yep, I was too but saw an X670E-F on the MM. So went with that.

Is a good starting point. Might need higher DRAM voltage for tCL28, so start with 30/32.

I've not seen his timings so no idea. Generally lower is better to a point, but ECC is a thing so lower is not always better.

No idea tbh. In the past, it was a 1400hrs launch when the 7900XTX GPU was released.

The 7950X3D was released earlier on launch day by mistake. Sorry I can't give you the answer. Hopefully closer to the day we'll have a better idea. Stay tuned.

I have that too and am happy with it. Was tempted to go for the x670-E but an Asus rep on an Asus facebook group I’m a part of said that performance would be the same as an -F so couldn’t see the point really.

It seems a solid board thus far. I'm sure it will get better as the BIOS matures.

After a bit of fun getting the game to work - not fired it up in months (a year) and not being as scientific as @LtMatt. I was seeing 230 fps @ 1024x768 with everything maxed in game. At native res 2440x1440 I was see 100-120 but that will be the GPU at that point.

As per sig, I'm running a 3090 FE under water.

Let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to run.

You’ll be completely GPU limited no matter the settings or resolution you use with a 7900X3D and 3090 in 2042 I suspect.
