Will you be purchasing the 7800X3D on the 6th?

If both 7900x3d and 7950x3d cached CCD run at 5ghz what would make them any better over 7800x3d in gaming ? also wouldnt the 7900x3d have 6 cores on each ccd ?
I thought the 7900x3d is a weird proposition as you would have less vcache cores than the the 7800x3d for gaming. I don’t think the 7900x3d and 7950x3d would be any better for gaming otherwise AMD would have touted this in their presentation.

The VCache cores run at 5Ghz in all 3 instances so the 7800X3D is the baseline and then the others are have your cake and eat as already mentioned if you want production CPU also.

7900X3D has potential to be a little worse as presumably only 6 cores on the VCache CCD but you are getting more production capability than 7800X3D.

No actual wording of the world's fastest gaming CPU this time in the presentation.

I expect them to win some lose some against 13900K/S, probably lose majority against high mems 13900KS to be honest.

Research needed on the games you like to play - if for example WoW then VCache likely out on top again no probs

If there was a game using 16 cores then sure. Currently, no games use more than 8 main threads, meaning the cache hits will all be on the right CCD (assuming Microsoft and AMD's sofware fix works well)

Of course in 5+ years time (next console generation) this will change.

very interesting reading about ccd's etc and boost clocks for each ccd, thanks guys. i'm eyeing up a 13900KS or a 7800X3D and atm i'm leaning towards the KS because 1 it's available sooner :D and 2 the X3D will only boost to 5GHz for the v-cache'd cores whereas the KS will do 6GHz. OK it's a lot more power hungry but that doesn't bother me. Cooling is a slight concern but i'm hoping something like a corsair h150i elite (360 AIO) will suffice. i expect the X3D will beat a 13900KS at 1080p but I never game at this res (I only game with my pc and do so at very high resolutions, in excess of 4K, i'm a VR gamer).

The 3d will be slightly better in some games and the 13th gen in others It’s not going to be a massive lead like some are claiming on the 3d chip. There could also be issues with Windows on the 3d chip which could hurt performance initially. If I had to buy one I’d lean more towards Intel if power isn’t an issue. In terms of your cooler that will be fine although I prefer the NZXT Z73.

One advantage of AMD is that you can use the motherboard for Zen5 next year if you need another cpu upgrade.

I expect AMD to beat Intel in the majority of games but if you really want to go Intel don't bother with the KS, just get teh K. KS is nothing more then a marketing ploy to say we got teh fastest processors cause most people think higher clock speed = better performance

I agree. Don’t bother with the KS if going Intel.

Intel's also releasing another CPU 'generation' on Z690/Z790 according to rumors, as Meteor Lake is delayed. Though I can't see how they can get much more out of Alderlake/Raptorlake without major architectural/process changes, which aren't happening to our knowledge.

where is this new 7950X 3D or 3DX CACH CPU? when will it be available?

CPU prices will go down in price, if the 7950 non 3D cache is cheaper than the cache version by 300+ then ppl may go for the previous gen, id doubt it will make a massive difference in gaming, no?

Will be available next month and judging by the 5800x3d the cache does make a big difference in gaming but not on every game.

have you not seen the gains the 5800x3d made ? 7800x3d will likely be cheaper than the 7950x and faster in games you only really need the 7950x or 7950x3d if you are doing stuff other than gaming

This is what needs to be verified as soon as these things launch. Probably the most important thing to confirm for those looking to buy one of these.

7000X3D are specifically designed to re-take the gaming crown from Intel, we're expecting a big difference in games.

I always thought faster = better  idc about price (within reason).

no, i have never owned a AMD CPU, always been Intel for the past 2 decades, when the other guy mentioned Meteor Lake I looked into it and that a Q4 2023 release, also no mention of a successor to X299 LGA 2066 and its been over 4 years since ive had that so hence I moving to AMD

Because its going to be long term thats why I want to make sure the CPU/Mobo combo is rock solid, I would have bought 7900 or 7950 but if the 3D is releasing imminently then I should wait for that... .

Theres already a big discount for the 79 series CPU's so its tempting, but Im gonna wait on the 3d cache and weigh value vs performance b4 I jump in.

Also someone said to me earlier why I'm gaming with a i9 10940x because its a high core count CPU it wont be getting high FPS for gaming compared to a lower core count CPU, but the latest AMD CPU's also have a high core count, if not more than intel, no?
