New personal best scores for my 4090 and my 7900 XTX in Modern Warfare 2 (1440P Lowest settings but Spot Cache Ultra and FXCAS 100%) thanks to the 7950X3D alleviating that bottleneck.

dont suppose anyone is running an arctic LF2 on their 7000 chips? are we still supposed to use the offset from the AM4 days?
I'm running a 7700x and LF II 280. The mounts are identical for AM4 and AM5, so use that.

Future-Proof Compatibility

At the end of 2022, AMD has released the AM5 socket, the successor to its popular AM4 platform. Because all mechanical dimensions remain identical, we are able to guarantee the compatibility of ARCTIC coolers with AMD's new processors.

Optimized for AMD Ryzen

AMD has been using a new multi-die layout for its high-end AM4 processors for a few generations now. In these processors, the hotspot is not centered by the IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader). To still allow for optimal heat dissipation, we have developed a special mounting kit for the Liquid Freezer II that allows the cold plate to be placed directly over the hotspot of the CPU. AMD's upcoming 7000 series AM5 processors are also come with multi-die layouts and can therefore benefit from the Liquid Freezer II's unique offset mounting.

Just done a reinstall of windows. It tells me the 3D optimiser is already installed. Is this something windows 11 is doing even though I don’t need it as it screw up gaming.

Yes. I ran it and it stated that the 3D optimiser was already installed so I looked in programs and features and it was already there.

Not good as we don’t want this installed with a 7800x3d.

Bummer. So, does that mean I should do a clean reinstall windows or can it just be uninstalled?

I’m not sure. I suspect that HUB suggested a clean install because of remnants or config that was left behind rather than the driver itself.

I’ve reinstalled and the things not there but the default amd chipset driver from amd.con installs it by default for 7800x3d.

What is the Promontory stuff ?
I just downloaded it direct from AMD. https://www.amd.com/en/support

"AMD GPIO Driver (for Promontory) is a driver that allows your computer to communicate with peripherals that are connected to the GPIO pins on your motherboard. GPIO stands for General-Purpose Input/Output, and these pins can be used to control a variety of devices, such as LEDs, switches, and sensors."

@shalke I had to look it up as I don't know if I should uninstall it as I haven't had any driver issues.. As far as I know.

"The AMD 3D V-Cache Performance Optimizer driver in the latest chipset driver package version 1.0.0.7 is safe to use with the 7800X3D. However, there have been some reports of the driver causing performance decreases and instability in some games. If you are experiencing these problems, you can try uninstalling the driver and installing the previous version of the driver. You can also try contacting AMD support for help.

Here are some tips for using the AMD 3D V-Cache Performance Optimizer driver:
  • Make sure that your CPU is compatible with the driver.
  • Only install the driver if you are experiencing performance issues.
  • Uninstall the driver if you are experiencing crashes.
  • Report any issues to AMD so that they can be fixed.
Overall, the AMD 3D V-Cache Performance Optimizer driver is a promising new driver that has the potential to improve performance on AMD's new Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs. However, it is still under development and needs to be optimized for more games. If you are experiencing crashes, it is best to uninstall the driver until AMD releases a fix."

What about the chipset drivers from your board manufacturer ?
