I agree, the length of time it would take for scaling at 720p to become relevant would be beyond the lifespan most users keep CPUs for.

All 3 resolutions would be best, but I can understand that due to the amount of work required to benchmark multiple CPUs across three resolutions many reviewers don't bother.
Which is what it comes down to I guess, the amount of work. I don't really see what Steve's argument is for not supplying it other than work. Sure it's less useful that 4k gpu benchmarks but it can't hurt.

That just feels like a dirty pairing.

Like when a 19 year old woman is dating a 75 year old. Like, it theres technically nothing wrong but im still not happy with the situation.

AM5 has other arguments such as platform support for the next few years.

Z690 and Z790 are 99.9% identical. Main difference is official support (QVL) for £500+ 8000Mhz DDR5 kits, which not many would buy anyway.

13900k running flawlessly on a Z690 hero here

Obviously AM5 will last longer, though it's a much more expensive platform. DDR5 + AM5 vs DDR4 and £85 board, no comparison from cost point of view.

The lowest entry Intel board you want is the Z690 MSI Pro-A. It's as capable as any of the higher end DDR4 boards. Beyond that you're spending for personal preference and more connectivity options.

Do not get a K sku with a non Z board. For non k, do with whatever is cheapest with the connectivity you want.

To get my type of numbers you can basically get everything important sub 700 easily:
13600k/f
Z690 MSI Pro-A D4
Good 2x16 Dual Rank mem

That should all be sub 700.

I'd bet 99.9% of 13900k owners will run at stock, as there's not much room to OC anyway. B660 board will run a 13900k flawlessly, boosting to 5.8Ghz, and is just over £80 last I checked.

Yeah cool story but I was talking about him using the MSI PRO H610M-B DDR4 with a high end CPU.

Anyone else not sure what Motherboard to get for the 7xxx3D? With a couple more upgrades available after with the Zen5 and Zen5X3D I'm not sure whether to go the cheap route with a B650e or get a more premium X670e to give more headroom for future upgrades.

Very happy with my ROG x670e Hero board, rock solid stable. Had my 7600 @ 5.4Ghz easily, with 6000Mhz C30 EXPO with no fiddling required.

Given us nothing so far, we only know what you know.

With a GBP worth around 1.19-1.23 USD with VAT the one to one with USD will remain, once GBP earns 1.25+ consistently is when even with VAT the UK MSRP will drop below US ones.
Hope AMD give you more info soon!

What's the general expectation here with the X3D chips?

What kind of performance boost would you like to see to really seal the deal?

Currently I'm running a 7900 and I don't know what to expect from these X3D processors, but if it gives a noticeable 45 to 50 percent performance boost along with loading times in BF2042 or the like, then I'd probably consider it.

AMD already gave some performance figures away on their announcement slides. There’s no way it will be 45-50% faster than a non x3d cpu.

15% performance boost would be the expectation from me.

Ok. Good to know.

I suppose until reviews are out there's no way in telling what the performance is going to be like?

The 7800x3d is circa 20% faster than a 5800x3d (title dependent). If AMD’s slides are to believed…
