RYZEN DDR4 MEMORY, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

Got a new G.Skill kit this morning using Samsung B-die. No issues booting at 3200MHz 14-14-14-34 on the Taichi, having previously been unable to boot at anything higher than 2666MHz with the dual-rank, Hynix-based Corsair Vengeance LPX kit I had before (no matter what I tinkered with). It's actually a 3866MHz kit, since that was cheaper than any of the actual 3200MHz ones I could find bizarrely, but works perfectly well at the lower bin and timings. Hopefully it'll work above 3200MHz too if/when AMD allow anything higher than that.

What's the model number for the RAM? Wouldn't mind taking a look.

Like most of these kits it's quite hard to track down (OcUK don't seem to stock any G.Skill stuff) and overpriced most places. I certainly wouldn't have paid the £250+ that some are asking. I guess it's scarce due to the Ryzen launch, since it's the best stuff for it.

I don't know what you paid but I have seen it go for all of £180 which relative to other options out there seems pretty good. And if you have a look around you can get the 3200MHz stuff for £140 which again isn't bad going.

Yeah Gibbo said something about Gskill not playing ball but after building a few dozen PC's with them over last couple of years I wont use anything else anymore which is shame for OCUK cause would have probably got the order through them but I always purchase all from one place to make things easier for the person I am building it for even if it's £20-£30 more because one point of contact for RMA etc is easier to work with.

Yeah, that's close to what I paid. I justified it with the fact that I'll be able to sell my old stuff for more than I actually paid for it brand new thanks to the spike in DDR4 prices. It's crazy how much more expensive it is now compared to a year ago.

Anyone tried Team Group Night Hawk? Specifically https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...al-channel-kit-blue-light-thbd-my-086-tg.html ?

Would fit the theme I am going for perfectly, and reasonably priced. However it seems you get what you pay for ease wise with Ryzen. Might just pick up some GSkill if not.

That's the set I have on a CH6. I'm not running any of the new bios yet and I haven't played around too much with the settings but mine runs at 2666 after rebooting 3 times. Going to install my AM4 bracket and update the bios this weekend (or wait for the next one if its coming soon). They do look cool though and that's all that really matters :p

I presume this rgb gskill F4-3200C16D-16GTZR should do 3200 without too much trouble? 3600 c17 is an extra £40-45 and doesn't seem worth it, although would likely have an easier time running 3200?
