Guys,

Have been looking for a new company car for what seems like ages now, currently still on my aging vectra and badly need to get my ass in gear and get something sorted.

Ive looked through all the options, 1series, 3 series et all.

Tonight I have been looking at Volvo S60, with the D3 163hp engine in R Design spec coming in at 26k with some nice options.

Also been looking at the S40 but the interior looks dated with an 80's style display in the centre console, maybe the S40 is due an update soon?

Thoughts/Opinions/Comments.....

Thanks

The new S60 is worth a look, definitely take one over the S40.
I'd take one for a drive and see what you think. It could be a decent option if you don't want to be spending your own money on the car.

Whats your budget? The new F10 520d is a simply staggering car and has leather and bluetooth as standard. From £29.7k IIRC.

The new 5 Series is totally worth it. Even if it's base spec, it's so much better than anything else :p

Out of interest how is the F10 sitting against the XF?

I think we've got to the stage now whereby this particular class is so good it's mostly down to personal preference. The F10 seems to beat the XF in some tests and the XF wins in others.

BMW's dominance of this class is long over :(

Problem with the Jag (Though really this isnt a problem, we should applaud them for being brave) is that they dont do a 4 cylinder diesel therefore it really is quite a lot more expensive to get into an XF than an F10.

True true.

But what a lot of car for the money

I reccon you could haggle one for 30k if you didnt care about the colour/spec they are all good anyway.

I really need to seek out an XF, I've never even been in one.

I fell in love with the 530d when I drove it - fantastic car and the interior is exceptional.

If you go about it the right way you can get one for a weekend.

Do tell me more.

Who knows, it might blow me away enough that it pips the 335i.

Well i would get your dad to phone up and explain that due to his bad back a normal test drive is no good, as he needs to try it for a prolonged time, worst ways he will get the day, probably a weekend.

Go with him when he picks it up and say you will be trying it too.

You could have course do this yourself but it will go easier from someone my age than yours :)

Jaguar are rowing the boat right out on customer service these days, very good attitude in the dealers. Iv had an XF and an XJ for weekends.

It wont blow you away enough to put you off a 335 because of the performance, to get 335 performance you would need to spend a lump of money, but i would still have one over the BMW even if it was just to stand out in the crowd and enjoy the silent lovely ride.

I cant be bothered with being dishonest with dealers though. I took an S-Type out from the local one about 3 years ago with no bother, doubt the XF will be an issue. Will just turn up in the E60 or something, would imagine my E39 is too old hat to carry the cred these days :p
