He's a carthorse of a manager and a disgusting person; so glad he's gone. Poor Palace, but they seem to want him. Good luck to them, they'll need it.

Palce aren't a bad side really, they just need some strikers. Very good wingers with Bolasie and Puncheon and decent center mids and defence.

To be fair, he gets sod all support at Newcastle. Players constantly sold from under him, he's probably getting little input into who is brought in. He could be harbouring dreams of setting up the most technical fluid tactics ever seen for all we know (unlikely!), but if he has little say in the signings its never going to work.

He was only at Newcastle to pay off his debt to Ashley. He's undoubtedly bored of being Ashley's puppet now, so if a few million is thrown in Ashley's direction, he'll might take off the chains.

After all these years I'm none the wiser as to how good Pardew is. He's got teams promoted, he's failed them, he's nearly caused one of the biggest upsets in recent Premier League times, got both manager of the season awards, nearly got them relegated. At Newcastle how much of that was him? How much did they hinder him? I've got absolutely no idea.

Just read about the Pardew gambling debt. Is that actually true or just rumours!? Crazy if it is true haha

Not likely true, the rumour being basically some 70-80's Newcastle player "knows" about the debt he owes a casino and thus is paying off Llambias.

The rumour is he owed a casino 100-300k depending on source, which is a fairly trivial amount of money, nothing that a manager capable of getting a prem league job would have trouble with nor need to sign away to a 8 year contract for. You also can't get credit in UK casino's, it's illegal, he wouldn't have owed Llambias, it's all just nonsense.

It comes across as the kind of thing a slighted ex player would spread about a manager who pushed him out of the club. You get a lot of ex players doing events at clubs, dinners, guest speakers or just to sit at tables with fans or at corporate events with decent money involved in particular for ex players who were around when wages weren't huge. A manager who hates a particular player and shuts them out of such events when arriving at a club could easily find such a guy spreading rumours about him.

Could Pardew have borrowed money from Ashley and owe him, sure, but that isn't the rumour. The rumour was specific and completely impossible and made no sense rather than come up with ways in which he may owe Ashley money people should just realise the initial rumour was utter trash in every way.

As for Newcastle vs Palace... living in London, probably can negotiate a higher wage on a new contract and because most teams below hell, 5th, make the majority of their money from tv and not stadium income and because ticket prices in the north east are low that even Newcastle's much higher than average stadium size means very little stadium income.

Effectively Newcastle don't have much more money than Palace, if any.

How is Pearson in a job?

The same was said last season and he was giving a chance and duly repaid by getting promotion. Burnley have a had a mini turn around, no reason why Pearson can't do the same. It's his team/squad, not sure what a different manager will do differently.

SSN saying WBA will appoint a manager before the weekend.

I wonder if Ashley and Co will go French? :D

He'll do a right job with them there. Would be a sound appoint, not the nicest football and all that but Palace were doing very well with him there. He'll keep them up.
