One thing I don't quite get is why whenever Pep goes to a new club, automatically the media assume that he is going to buy Messi or Neymar. Strange thing is he has never managed Neymar but ok Messi I can understand. But unless I'm mistaken, Messi has made it pretty clear he will not be leaving Barca anytime soon unless Barca decide to ship him off.

Sometimes these journo's come up with the most insane stories lol.

My only concern is who is going to take over Wenger, when he decides to call it a day...missed out on Pep who I thought would be a perfect fit for Arsenal as we play his sort of football.

Will definitely be interesting to see how Pep does at City and if they can adapt his way of football b

The media don't assume that at all, they fabricate stories and tenuous possibilities that their gullible readers think may come true or they at least think their readers will.

Manchester United have held talks with representatives of former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

The 53-year-old Portuguese, who was sacked by the Blues in December, is increasingly hopeful of succeeding Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

No agreement has been reached, and the club have made no comment, but negotiations have begun.

Dutchman Van Gaal, 64, is expected to leave United at the end of the season - one year earlier than scheduled.

That would leave the way clear for Mourinho, who is known to be excited by the prospect of taking over at Old Trafford.

Thankfully it seems like they've abandoned the idea of Giggs.

Even though it could all go wrong, i am actually quite excited by the prospect of Mourinho taking over.

It will either be an absolute disaster like his last year at Chelsea, or we will start winning things again.

There's no other option at this point really, taking a gamble on Giggs would just be another disaster. Either get Mourinho in or they may as well stick with LvG.

Mourinho wont go to China. He will get paid ridiculous sums to manage in Europe and he has already got a pretty healthy bank balance. He is still young so could do it when their league is a little more mature and worth bothering with. At the moment he would go to one of the teams spending huge sums on second rate players and walk the league every season without breaking a sweat. No CL and no challenge.

The only job I can imagine would be more boring is managing PSG at the moment.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure I saw a video of Ramirez scoring on his debut and it looked like he was playing at a conference ground. Its pretty sad that anyone would want to play on that stage in the prime of their career instead of in front of 10s of thousands in the CL and league every week.

I think we have an opportunity with Mourinho to give him something he hasn't had at least recently - management above him that don't interfere with the footballing side of things. And with the possible exception of Rooney, I don't think we've got any dodgy players in the dressing room, like were long rumoured at Chelsea. This season is a complete write off for Mourinho and Chelsea, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what happened.

Either way, with the exception of big games, I think he plays good football and would suit us very well. Let's not forget in big games, SAF rolled out Park Ji Sung at every possible opportunity, and it often worked. Mourinho is similar in this regard (but will take it to real extremes).

Pep is often eulogised, but I don't think you can argue Bayern are a better side than when he took over.

Ultimately, he's our only real option, regardless of what we want. The PL should be very entertaining next season. Pep building his new look City team, Mourinho sorting out our mess, Klopp with his almost entirely new Liverpool squad... :p If Wenger fails to win the league this season, Arsenal have to ask serious questions of him surely.

This season has been very good but it's a bit of a mess!

Looks like we want a director of football to work alongside Mourinho. I think this is a very good idea.

Atletico Madrid director Berta could join Mourinho at Manchester United

Sporting director Andrea Berta has made a name for himself at Atletico Madrid after previously working at Parma and Genoa. The former banker has formed a strong partnership with Simeone as a well as director Jose' Caminero, they took the club from the relegation zone to the la Liga title in just three years.. Berta has shown good attention to detail, professionalism and the ability to make the right choices- he wasn't afraid to replace Courtois with Oblak as an example. Berta has become the most respected Italian director in Europe, and the Premier League has set their sights on him.

While the biggest milestones in his career have taken place in Spain, Berta could be leaving Madrid for England, where he could partner with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. The Red Devils have identified Mourinho as their top choice, there isn't much room for discussions or alternatives, the negotiation has been on going for some time. The plan seems to be set, the signature is expected to be for next season, as the former Chelsea manager doesn't want to start right away. Berta has a good relationship with Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes, the possibility that he will join Manchester United is concrete- he will give his answer in the next few weeks. Manchester United is looking to get back on track, Mourinho and Berta could be the central figures in their new project.

Atletico have done pretty well for themselves when it comes to transfers...

Well the current Utd management don't appear to have a clue.

Ive said LvG should have been out in Dec (and that goes for majority of his team also).

That's got no relation to Director of football position (that hasn't exactly worked well in the EPL so far)

I guess we'll see what happens, but in our current predicament, I don't see another option, and I don't mind Mourinho at all.

Predicament - let's be honest here, we're not alone in being poor this season. It looks like we'll finish in 5th which, all things considered, is alright, I guess. Yes we want to win the league but we're a few star players away from that, so let's be realistic. The manager carries a lot of the blame, yes, but the players must take some responsibility too.

I, personally am looking forward to seeing Mourinho get the Utd job then destroy you lot from inside out. Just like he did at Chelsea with the stuff he was up to ie publically slating his players, slating Carneiro which effectively was the beginning of the end.

Hmm well given what happened at Chelsea I think his ego may have been hurt a little (maybe? lol..) and I honestly think he will do well.

He is a talented manager, no one can argue that.

Also given the fact that some at United don't want him I suggest his contract will reflect that.

Meanwhile, Wenger. :p
