if you're happy with your manager clap your hands
if you're happy with your manager clap your hands
if you're happy with your manager clap your hands
if you're happy with your manager and you really want to show it. support your club.

5th is alright?? Since when? Outside top 4 is unacceptable for United not even taking into account how much money we've spent.

Poor management and average players, masters at drawing matches and hardly scoring... yet we're 5th. It should be better but it could be a lot worse (hi Chelsea).

lol what happened for me to say that? can't have been this season surely...

in all fairness and as harsh as this sounds; masons injury getting the winner against sunderland earlier in the season was a blessing as we were not fluid and pretty bad to watch.

things changed from that game on.

How many players in the United squad will make team of the season?
Same question could be asked about Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and City.

With the likes of Vardy, Ighalo, Lukaku, Mahrez and Payet as well as a whole host of other players that have played out of their skin this season there won't be much room for underperforming stars from the bigger teams.

Aguero? DeBruyne (I guess he's out for a while now) Ozil? Sanchez?

'Pool nor Chelsea will finish in the top 4 - which was my point, United have no right to finish there, we're distinctly mediocre...

Aguero, unless he scores regularly from not until the end of the season I doubt it. They will only pick two strikers anyway so it would be Vardy and depending how the others do until the end of the season (Ighalo, Aguero, Kane, Lukaku, Rooney)

Seeing as the votes will have already been made by now it'll be Vardy + Lukaku or Kane as the 2 strikers. Ighalo's gone under the radar compared to those 3.

RVP carried United through the season to win the league previously. 'Pools best chance was when they had Suarez. Hazard and Costa were immense for Chelsea.

Further points to a 5th place being just about where United should be sitting, the table isn't a lie!

Clearly LvG should have managed better as well...

Well I hope Gary Neville took a 6 week holiday from sky and used up all his entitlement because they won't be giving him much longer by the look of it. He's probably killed his career before it even got going.

Meanwhile, Wenger. :p

Don't get all butthurt lol, we all know Mourinho is a good manager but then we have all seen what happens when things don't his way.

Yeh sure we haven't won a title under Wenger for god knows how long now but one thing is for sure, he isn't as toxic as Mou and LVG to an extent.

I remember you lot getting all excited that you will be back to winning ways under LVG:p. Seems like LVG is more concerned about getting into spats with the media rather than concentrate on getting u guys up into the top 4.

Lol, thats complete bull. The most optimistic of us were saying that we hope that we can keep this small improvement up but most of us were saying that we would revert to being crap again soon and that we would have another **** period before the end of the season. I don't think anyone thought that we had turned it around in any way, shape or form.

I'm 95% sure we can kiss top 4 goodbye already and have been for about the past 2.5 months. The only glimmer of hope is City and Arsenal might make a hash of things even more than us before the end of the season but I very much doubt it.

The general feeling I got from many UTD fans after his first season was that while we would never be exciting or truly competitive in a title challenge or CL finish during LVG's reign (which was only expected to be 3 years) is that he would leave us in a much stronger position then were in or are now.

Unfortunately while I think some area's of the squad are MUCH stronger then at the end of Fergies era there are more holes in the squad then when he started and he will leave us without CL football for the second time in three years.

I'm also sure that LVG will hate the fact that his last role in football will be classed as a complete failure, but much of this is his own doing (with a little help from Woodward and Giggs)

My current belief is that the top 4 is gone, we should go all out for the FA cup and we will end up with Mourinho at the end of the season. While I really didn't want him to become our manager he will at least be able to draw a decent calibre of player even without CL football.

Lol ok so maybe u lot in here didn't think u were going to be any better. But majority of my Utd supporting friends and their friends were under the impression that LVG was your saving messiah ie getting u back to winning ways etc.

As much as I don't like Utd, I'd rather see u lot get that 4th place than the spuds. But it isn't looking likely to happen unless you guys go on some amazing run from now till end of the season.

I think there's more chance is spuds slipping up or st totteringham's day is fast approaching. But the next few weeks will be very important for us, city, Utd and Leicester imho.

I was expecting from LvG:

  • First season - spend £100-150m, sort out the squad, get top 4, preferably 3rd.
  • Second season - spend another £100m~, plug a few obvious holes, challenge for the title, get into latter stages of the CL.
  • Third season - Buy a further marquee player or two, definitely win the league (if haven't in season 2), and again get to the latter stages of the CL. I think winning the CL will be incredibly difficult, we'd need to pull off some incredible transfers.
With our resources, structure and his experience, I didn't think any of this was a massive stretch. Sadly, transfers haven't gone well, how much of that is his fault I don't know. Aside from that, his tactics and philosophy have been a disaster, he's abandoned his possession philosophy eventually, and now we look better. In addition to that, his game management is pathetic, he regularly makes the team worse with tactical changes and substitutions.

Thankfully, it looks like Woodward wants to hand off the transfer side of things to a Director of Football, which is an incredibly wise move. As long as it's someone Mourinho likes and can get on with.

Even if we have Mourinho for 3 years and it does end in tears, chances are he'll have achieved something, then we can look at someone like Ancelotti who can work with his squad. The landscape could be different by then.
