Thousands of people were beheaded or burnt at the stake for their beliefs. Women were legally killed for committing adultery - people were executed for simply saying what they believed or even what they thought. Thieves had their hands amputated, people were disembowelled and their internal organs removed while they were still alive as a punishment for something that most times they weren't even guilty of as justice was virtually unheard of. The entire Kingdom was ruled by power and terror and free speech or thought was punishable by a cruel and violent death.
What makes us so different?
It takes a long time to achieve democracy and you can't ignore the fact that the UK was just as bad, if not worse than other countries all those years ago.
Dead right mate, this is why iraqies need a brutal dictator to keep all those anamilistic tendancies under control
