Saints Row: The Third

In other news, Zavvi haven't sent my pre-order yet (LE). Tempted to cancel and order the steam code from shopto for £6 less if Zavvi don't ship it in the next few hours.

edit: Just despatched.

Seen a few YouTube HD vids appearing in last 24hrs showing off PC version; seems to run really smooth with i5/i7’s + GTX470's and upwards. Cars seem to be glued to road but don’t turn anywhere near as sharply as the previous PC versions, also no 'press X' shoddy port signs, has proper mouse symbols etc.

The full campaign co-op side of this game is purely my reason for purchase. :)

What is the betting amd owners like me will have to wait a week for a half decent driver for it :) Starting to wish I never went down the amd route. I don't think i will next time I do a upgrade.

Sadly it's starting to look that way for me as well. It feels like you have to cross your fingers whenever you buy anything new.

Played a bit more. Getting into it now. Only because i've unlocked the VTOL and it is absolutley epic. Loving the transformer sounds when you switch between hover and flight modes.

i thought the cars in gta 4 handle like crap felt like in was driving a boat at times..in fact i thought gta 4 on a whole was no were near as good as vice city or SA...

saints row is just mindless fun...

Never had steam do that and I buy more discs then downloads as they tend to be cheaper with more stuff. Everytime I install a game from disc it just works, it makes you think it is going to download but it just installs from disc then downloads any patches after.

Last three physical copies of games I've tried to install(AVP, Fallout 3 and SR3), Steam has either downloaded and re-installed the game, or it's just taken over and started downloading and ignored the media in the drive.

It's really a pain which forces you to get digital media which, sales excluded, is well overpriced on Steam.

My game must be bugged or something as I cant play it at all, even though I could before.

Ill wait until Friday to see whether it works after unlock, or it will be a re-install for me

yay I got the cd key from shopto but it wont let me install it! FFFUUUU! I'm thinking to VPN it and see what happens.

edit: I just had a look on the steam forums and people are already playing saints row with the use of VPN.

look at the release times.

North America 9:01pm PST on Nov 14, 2011
Continental Europe 3:01pm PST on Nov 14, 2011
Asia Pacific and AU 5:01am PST on Nov 14, 2011

I ordered mine Tuesday night and it arrived this morning from shopto. I can't play because it still isn't officially launched. I am dissapoint.

tempted to just order digital copy now.......anyone actually played it yet?

Played 2 missions, good fun, runs sweet... its just OTT mayhem really.

I dont think you can take it serious or play it thinking you will have a serious story to follow... its one of those things you just have to take in and enjoy.

Ok here's how:

*Just a note, you may want to change your windows time zone to (UTC-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) I dont know if it makes a difference or not but I did it. Turn it off after you entered offline mode in steam.*

first of all make sure you register the game to your steam account if you have not done so.
  1. Exit steam
  2. Turn off the AV (just in case anything funny goes on)
  3. download USAIP
  4. Double click on it
  5. Select USAIP L2TP California
  6. The username is demo and the password is demo
  7. Click on Connect
  8. Launch steam
  9. Install the game if you have a retail version (or ordered off shopto etc) so you will get this window:

    Capture-16.png

  10. Once installed your VPN will probably have disconnected by now because its a free version, if not disconnect it already
  11. Click on finish or what ever (if available - my memory fails me lol). Steam should start downloading the missing 2GB content.
  12. Once downloaded exit steam
  13. Connect to the USAIP L2TP California VPN and enter the user and pass.
  14. Launch steam again
  15. The game should be available to play!
  16. Put steam in offline mode, turn off the VPN and play in that mode until the UK release date or where ever your release date will become available.

*Connecting to your normal connection (before your release date) while steam is running will lock your game again and you will have to exit steam and launch it again through the VPN. So stay in offline mode until the legit release date!*

Nice, but nah I don't like using VPN's. Did it once for dead island but I dunno, I just don't feel safe using them at all. Much rather wait until release date.
