Joseph Angel Alvarez, 38, was arrested in El Paso, Texas, last week. He's the suspected in fatal shooting of Georgette Kaufmann, 50. Her husband, Daniel, was wounded in the November 14 shooting.

It's a shame Mr. Alvarez went down the path of criminal insanity, his obvious potential forte would be as an extra in a spaghetti western, given his "robust" Mexican looks.

So sad ex President Trump saw fit to tell him of the devil worshipping, (hands off) abortionists in his midst, let alone that they were also Democrat voters.

Oh dear. Just like there I am not defending anyone here. I just drew a comparison to things crazy people do when they believe in something.

But it is also absolutely mental that a fatwa can you be handed out like that.

I'm gonna guess he will not be attempting an "I didn't do it" defence but more likely some kind of "I did it, but I was legally executing a warrant for his death" type of defence. Which probably will not fly in the USA as the warrant was issued by an authority in another country (whereas US states issue death warrants for death row inmates all the time).

It does pose a somewhat interesting quandary though, as it's only a few years ago that the USA assassinated an Iranian general/politician on a diplomatic visit to Iraq, and when Iran/Iraq played hell they claimed it was legal as their government had signed off on it.

It will make for a pretty interesting trial at the least :p

Fatwa was given by The Ayatollah Khomeini. A religious cleric and leader.
I had just got my first job in 1988 when the fatwa was instigated. Of course, I went with the flow as a Muslim and agreed with the fatwa; though I had not read the book, so agreed with the hate sermons in the local mosque.
Then, in 2004, I decided to read the book Satanic Verses. I loved the book and the unique literature of the author.
Yes there are religious undertones, but it is a novel and he writes so well. I went on to read many of Salmon Rushdie's books.
Wish him a speedy recovery.
 
What aren't the calorie conscious pork pie roundaboutphobe residents of Leicester not campaigning for all Fatwas to renamed Thinwas hmmm? I mean at least try to be consistent.
 
I think the problem is a lot of Muslims don't know why they can't depict Muhammad in a photo, or picture etc.

They are told not to do that because in Islam there is only one God, Allah. So Islam forbids depictions of Muhammad so they can't worship him, like many Christians worship Jesus as God.

And yet Jesus is a prophet in Islam, Isa, and there are more pictures of him than anybody else who has lived or not.

How convenient. What does your god look like? That's blasphemous!

At least in Christianity they try to come up with imaginative depictions, like saying god is a burning bush lmao, but I guess in Islam they want to avoid as many questions they can't answer so no one should ask or even think about what a "god" looks like
