Voda are offering this phone free on a 12-month contract for £25 a month with 200 anytime minutes and 250 texts per month which seems a reasonable deal?

The E900? I thought it was only on O2? I effectively got the same deal on O2 via cashback (cash in my hand that I have already been given), with double minutes for the first 3 months and after 6 months I can change tarriff.

I'm quite liking the phone, it survived its first drop test onto concrete this morning DOH :)

I'm seriously considering it, but I would use the MP3 function as I CBA to carry two devices.
It would be ace if you they did an adapter so I could use my Sony headphones, I don't really wanna start soldering stuff as it looks untidy :(

I could solder it tidily for you, a touch of heat shrink and job done.
The LG doesn't have a memory card does it? I wanted memory for photos, you'll need it for music?

The LG doesn't have a memory card, but 128Mb is good for about 35 tracks, which is enough to keep me going for the journey to and from work.
I can always change them round later :P

Where can I pick up heat shrink?
I assume it's just a small piece of plastic tube that shrinks over the soldered joint when heated?

just phoned orange upgrades

say that the e900 is out shortly, i also asked about availability of n80 and she laughed and said not for a while.

so whats this phone like, the e900 that is. battery life etc ok, looks good to me but what of you guys that have got your mits on one?

cheers.

VIRII how is sending and recieving emails on it? any good or your standard pants fare?

Haven't tried as I've only just got the settings sent to the phone, infact I don't know if I have to enable something or what.
I will RTFM at some point :D
Email settings O2 WAP ?
I get the service unavailable message so I guess I have to enable something, it's not the sort of thing I'd be likely to do on this phone as I have an Imate Jam and an XDA Exec to play with for that..

As for battery life ----- only had it a couple of days so no idea how long battery life will turn out to be.

Hey, just wondering what the choice of alarm tones are, ie is it like the d500 with only the default crappy ones available or can you use mp3s etc as the k750 etc could.

Its for the gf and shes moaned about the d500 lack of choice on alarms, but loves the look of this phone (I do too :D)

Whats video support like on it? just 3gp stuff?

Dont suppose you could post some pics using the camera :)

Sorry but someone has to be the guinea pig here :p

only 240x320.

ONLY! Thats a really good resolution, thats the resolution of an xda mini s and my smartphone.

Had a look at one at work today and it was indeed amazing.

It seems more impressive than the screen on my MDA compact simply because it is SO small, the pixels are tiny.

Anyway it is a very striking phone, it outperforms the chocolate in terms of camera, software seems good, pc connectivity is fine.
Lack of ringtones (normal ones) is a shame and like a PSP / Ipod I can't help getting fingerprints all over it which is a bit annoying.

I liked the phone when I got it, I am beginning to really like it now.

Sorry mate I did not see your post till now.

Alarm tones enable you to use your own sound files, so the world is your oyster there.

I am not sure what you mean by video support. It is not a 3g phone so you can't make video calls with it.
It can take fairly low resolution video with sound though.

The camera isn't bad, not sure it is up to K750 / W800 quality but it isn't bad.
It has a nifty feature that takes 6 shots in rapid sucession but these are pretty low resolution, cool for animated gifs etc though.

I'll post some pics when I take some full res ones. So far I've been a bit busy to have a good play with it.

Its allright, I skip posts too :)

Thanks for the info, I was meaning does it just play 3gp (quicktime mobile version vids) or does it have support for other types. Probably will just be 3gp but you never know.

I think the k750 had a quick shot thing like that too also.

After owning a k750 and getting a XDA Mini S I have come to realise how good the camera was on the k750 (daytime at least). Still, the e900 should be better than a d500 camera wise.

Thanks for replying :)

Oh umm lol I don't know to be honest. I'll look it up in the manual after work if you like. The camera is infinitely better than on the Mini-S - which I assume is identical to the MDA compact and not very good at all.

The quickshot are 320x240 here's an example:

ha, its OK, i was being lazy, ill get the pdf or whatever from samsungs site.

Looks like the pics are quite crisp outdoors, do you think its reproducing colours correctly?

Your right on the xda pics, they look ok on the phone, but awful (comparatively) on a pc @ 1:1

Cheers for that tho, will have to take the gf to town and see if its as good in real life as it looks on the net :)

Outdoor colour reproduction is suprisingly good in that particular photo.
I really need to take some outdoor pics in full resolution and take comparable ones with my Ixus 5mp to make a decent comparison.

I had never seen the phone in the flesh until I bought it, it was seeing it and seeing the screen that made me buy it, I had not considered it before then.

The phone doesn't appear to have voice dialling though -I'd have liked that facility.

GSM arena says:

- MP3/AAC/ACC+/WMA player

So looks like it doesn't support anything other than 3gp.

Cool, thought that would be the case.

Funnily enough I tried finding the phone on Samsungs site and it wasnt even listed nor in any searches I did on the site!

Oh well, think its still a cracking phone and there isnt much out (apart from the LG) that the GF likes.
