Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

Yes I have.

I've tried a lot of custom roms with varying kernels and every Touchwiz based 4.1.2 OS seems to have the same problem.

Poor performance and rubbish battery, even the BBC News app takes a good 10-15 secs to open, when on 4.0.4 it was instant.

I've even tried a few AOSP roms and while their performance was better the camera quality is terrible and I couldn't get tethering to work on any of them which is a must have for me.

I've been seriously considering going back to a 4.0.4 based ROM and just sticking there.

Well I tried loads of JB based TW Roms and got utterly sick the performance issues all of them have.

In the end I've gone back to an ICS Rom and have been on it for the last few weeks.

It's been flawless, not a single bit of lag, force close or reboot so I'm sticking on it.

It's this rom.

Interesting, JB on my wife's phone doesn't feel too bad tbh, And that's with no wipes ever going from GB - ICS - JB.

Edit - on stock rooted LSZ JB at the moment.

What performance issue did you have exactly?

Lag, lag and more lag.

Apps taking longer than usual to open, stuttering, freezing and just general unfriendly performance which I'm pretty sure is all ram use related.

Much happier since I stuck a 4.0.4 rom back and I've not had even a hint of the above.

Upgraded to SlimKat yesterday and am loving it.....

Anyone else still rocking the good ol' Note ?

Yep, still rocking the Note 1 here. It does feel a little slower than when I got it but it still works fine so I can't see a reason to change it quite yet. I've replaced the battery and mini USB port on it but it's still running :)

Nice I'm finding SlimKat has given my phone a new lease of life. It's like having a new phone and saves me 500 quid :D

ICS was great but JB did kill performance for me.
Flashing to KK has been big performance gain though.

Only think left is - If anyone knows what I need to get my USB DAC working I would be most grateful
