Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Is there any way to increase the amount of vibrations on the samsung in texts and stuff?!

I loved my BB because of its hardcore vibration that i would feel in my pocket, but i don't think i would feel the one this gives off, and it's only one vibration, any apps out there?
 
I'm in a dilemma - should I get this for £29.99 p/m or the HTC Desire for £25 p/m and 12 months half price? This looks like the better phone, but maybe the Desire is better value.
 
I've played with the Desire and i have the Samsung, i'd go with the samesung to be honest mate. The hardware rules, the feel of it is nice then the desire too.
 
It seems like the hardware is a lot quicker, especially in terms of 3D, but I read somewhere that it won't be upgraded to Froyo. The build of Desire is a wee bit nicer as well, although I doubt that's something I'd notice after a few weeks of using the phone.
 
It is getting upgraded, that was a mistake by samsung :) Up to you mate, i've just installed launcherpro on my samsung so it looks like the desires ui anyways pretty much.
 
Different UI's. Samsung puts on it's own version on top of the Android, but i hear they are rooting the samsung so possibilties are there for it.
 
Cheers. I think I'll get it. Expect me back in this thread with a million inane questions. This will be the first phone I've bought since my monochrome screen Nokia from like 2002.

Yes - I use SMS Popup - it has lots of features such as reminders (if a text goes unread for sometime, it will vibrate/chime again etc)
 
Having an issue with my contacts, i cleared them all to start afresh.

I go to "get friends" get them from facebook choose the people i want as a contact, import, but when i go to try and add the phone number to their picture/contact it doesn't let me?! Only lets me "Delete/Link Contact or Mark as Default"?!
 
When the Samsung Galaxy S meant to be getting the new 2.2 Froyo update ???


Seen loads of rumors about it should be released very soon for the HTC desire,,but i not seen anything about the Galaxy S release :confused:
 
Well after 5 days usage here are my impressions...

++ Battery life is excellent. Getting 2 days usage with Gmail synced real time and medium usage
++ Screen is the best Ive seen on a handset bar none
+ Browsing is wickedly fast
+ Probably the best Android media device available. Vids look superb.
+ Although plastic, the device feels fantastic in your hand.

- Touch Wiz UI was dumped on the first day, Launcher Pro replaced it.
- Wi-Fi range is a lot less than my HD2 was
- Build quality could definitely be an issue for some people
- Camera is poor. No shutter lag but the image quality could be better.
- Video even at 720p is poor and captures in a .3gp format for some reason. Can't find anywhere to change this.
 
How much memory do you have left on the 8gb model to put music/video's on...
As i seen a few people post that there is 2GB Internal storage memory for putting apps/games onto..

But is this 2GB taken out of the 8GB ??
