Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Hi guys!

I was after some tips regarding me only getting about 10 hours out of a battery. I have tried another battery, and it's exactly the same.

I've tried another ROM, and exactly the same!!

My battery use is:

Display: 48%
Voice Calls: 40%
Cell Standby: 8%
Phone Idle: 4%

However! I've turned my screen brightness all the way down, and as for voice calls - probably around 30-40 minutes a day, not exactly a lot!!

GPS is off, Wireless is off, Bluetooth is on for around 2 hours a day.

I leave 3G on as I use the internet on it, so HSDPA is helpful!

I have is connected to 1x Exchange account and 1x GMail account, both set to push always on.

Any ideas guys?

Touchwiz is a basic UI and can be replaced. I seriously used to think SenseUI was king and i'd really miss it but after a couple of days without it i would never make my choice of device based on it.

Hero has to go now mate. It will never feel the same :D

dont get me wrong i wouldnt make a phone decision baised on the launcher it used as i use launcher pro anyway,
i just cant help thinking what a bum deal the people that dont know any better are getting

will have to keep the hero as i cant afford a new phone :(
and the wife wont hand over the SGS lol

Dig a new patio and you get the SGS ;)
 
having some problems with kies trying to update phone. just get an error when at the download stage have goo-fu'ed and hopefully sorted it now but the battery is to low to update :( will try tomorrow

oh and the 3 button recovery dont work for me either :fun:

I got my phone on wednesday, Today is the first day I've used it for a full day.
Disconnected from the charger at 0530.
Connected to blutooth at 0730 (and just this second disconnected 2023)
An hour and 20 minutes of calls.
15 minutes of browsing.
5 texts
3g left on all day.
Background data turned OFF.
Screen at lowest settings.

As it stands it is saying it has 60% left.

PS does anyone have any operator branding on their handsets? mine is on T-mobile and its got nothing regarding them on it all.

my mrs has one on orange and its heavily branded theres even an orange launcher with its own aps n widgets

my hero also on orange had nothing at all just a little sticker on the battery cover although they probably didnt have a clue about android then lol
 
My pay as you go phone i bought from O2 came unlocked and no branding except a few bookmarks in the browser which were deletable.

glad i didnt upgrade through Orange then.
My hero just had a orange logo on the back thought it would be the same. WTF do they need to mess for? :p
 
Oh FFS! Just got an email off Dial-A-Phone saying my order is delayed and i'll recieve an email when its going to be dispatched. No reasons why it's delayed, and no say of how long its been delayed by.

Really does pee me off when they do this.

Out of stock i'd imagine, the phone is selling as fast as they can make em.
