Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Yep I was going to post that but you beat me to it :D

My quadrant went up from ~800 to ~2200 :D

Shows that the lag is a file system/software problem not really hardware one

So when are we noobie 'I DONT WANNA BREAK MY SHINY NEW TOY BY PLAYING WITH IT LIKE THIS TOO MUCH' group expected to see this update??

Hopefully with the Android 2.2 (froyo) update in September.

Some of the guys over at xda forums have emailed various Samsung people regarding why the phone is laggy at times (basically poor file system) and Samsung have acknowledged the problem and are working on it.

Just noticed that the log states that it can't create mkfs.ext2 even though I'm running the latest version of Busybox. Any ideas, anyone?

The latest version won't work you need version 1.17.1 there is a link in the first post in the thread on XDA, make sure you do a restart after uninstalling 1.18 then install 1.17.1

Cheers for that, I'm happy to stick with the lag to be honest. I don't use my phone enough to really warrant all this rooting and hacking and slashing and selotaping malarky.

its really not that hard and is basically risk free. If you get in trouble just go into recovery mode and reflash easy peasy :)

earlyier version's will work as well i believe, for some reason the author of busybox cut out a component that is needed for this mod in the latest version.

I just went back to Jg5 and this thing is just running so well now, Not sure if its better on Jm2 But the new lock screen and a few other things so JG5 for now.

@[ZiiP]carrot there one click root, and this lag fix is 1 click and both of them can be uninstalled aswell. TBH im not the best with linux and so on but these things are basically idiot proof and even if you brick your phone you just flash it again and poof it works like new so there is like no risk :).

what actual error are you getting? Only error i got was when i did'nt reboot after unstalling the latest version of Busybox. I used the combined root+Busybox 1.17 update.zip as well.

I've been over that thread for a while now and can't find where to download the all in one update.zip file.

I should get my phone later today and I'm getting prepared :D

edit: wait I do have it I think (1.33MB?), I was thinking there must be a different larger file.

So..despite the thread title this phone doesn't seem to have a qwerty keyboard..is that true?

I also don't see it putting the Evo 4G to shame anywhere...not that an Evo would be much use in the UK anyhow :)

only the pro version is coming with the physical keyboard, but it looks like this will only be available in the USA
