Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Thanks. Just used that tool to root. Now I have a problem. When I go into OCLF, LagFix is still shown in red although it says the device is rooted.

When I try to hit OneClickLagFix V2.2+ anyway, it says I don't have enough space in data/data.

I personally would wait until Voodoo has been completed which is better imo.

It has'nt come out in the country yet, just come out in scandinavia. You could unlock your phone for free and flash now if you wished though.

Ahh Ok, cheers, but is it out on three yet?

You'll be waiting awhile for that, three aren't the fastest to update. Actually they could be the slowest...

My personal preference would be flashing the full JPM XEU version with odin over the JP6 XEE over Kies. I'm not a fan of Kies tbh, crashed on me a few times. I'd recommend grabbing a copy of the /efs folder before moving Eclair > Froyo, means you'll need to root it first though.

Quick question for you guys.

I tried rooting my phone (standard galaxy s) using the SuperOneClick 1.4, however during the process it gets stuck on "running rageagainstthecage...", with no visible progress for however long I leave it. A few others have posted the same error on the XDA thread, but nobody seems to be replying to the issue.

Any ideas what to try? I've tried different USB ports and whatnot with no effect :(.

Thanks Diablo! Just used the method above and it all appears to have gone through succesfully. Is there any quick way I can check if the root was successful?

Edit - Superuser is in the applications list, that means it's done right?

Did you install the EXT2 tool?

settings>about phone> it should say 'root' in the Kernal Version section.

just root the wifes SGS dint work with the one posted earlier (the one on theunlockr.com)

this one did though http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...t-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-with-a-single-click/

on orange with branded SGS
was a simple operation
open app
click root 2.1
it boots phone in to recovery
manually install update.zip
reboot
done

it did install the older version of superuser but thats no problem

EDIT: Ryan'Za lag fix installed from market schweet super fast

Should it always say root in the kernal version in settings>about phone? As i tried to root before, it appears successful and i have a superuser icon in my apps. I then installed the oneclicklagfix which appers to have worked. When i click on the one click lag fix now the "root phone" option is unavailable but the "unroot phone" option is available. This would suggest it is definitely rooted? But my kernal version does not say root, it is 2.6.29 umts_scm@S1-BUILD05 #2

Got it sorted now. Did a wipe of the phone, then did the lag fix and then installed my apps.

My thoughts on the 2.2 JPM 'Official' from samfirmare...It doesn't seem as fast as the stock firmware I had on the phone before with the lag fix. There are some problems I have also like applications not appearing in battery usage stats(only thing present is display).

Not sure to what to make of it still..

I just went from JPK -> JP6 and I have to say its a nice improvment. With the same lag fix it feels a lot faster, at first JPK was fast but it slowly started to die on me and by the end i coudnt do anything with it crashing or freezing or FC apps on me.

All in all it seem like a nice frimware and there seems to be some actual custom rom development now.

One to keep an eye on :D

So just connected the phone to the pc and Kies starts up and says i can update the firmware, current version is JF3 and latest version is JM2.

Is the version better? anyone have the same?

Yep my brother was quite dissapointed to discover the update today wasn't Froyo...especially as SOMEHOW the update didnt complete properly and we had to spend the afternoon working out how to flash via Odin to get his phone working properly (and yes he was updating via Kies, plugged into a PC)!

Will probably end up trying the 2.2 Froyo JPM flash from Samfirmware, as he's a little fed up after everything he's still not up to date like my Desire.
