Looks like Samsung might have been listening to the waves of complaints at them due to the phone's problems.
I really do hope they ditch the RFS and fix the GPS for Froyo next month! Having to tell people why the phone does the quirky things it does is a bit embarrassing for a £300+ phone.

What people are unofficially upgrading to now is the same version of firmware that is gonna be released here next month, even though it doe's improve the GPS. RFS is still being used in this firmware though and very unlikely to be ditched anytime soon, the lag fixes that get rid of RFS work great though and simply applied.

Lol i have dark steel and its the fastest ive ever seen my phone go, everything works perfectly, love the theme. Wouldnt recommend anything else.

Also for a lagfix use voodoo, the other lag fixes give better quadrant scores but with voodoo u can actual see the difference.

Glad to hear that! Goign to be sticking DS on my SGS either tonight or tomorrow as I'm too impatient to wait for the official 2.2 release now.
 
Yeah I was surprised just how easy the custom ROMs look to install! Debating between the Tayutama or Darky's Raw Steel at the moment, but one of them is going on there!
 
sorry was my mistake, I started to write the post left the room and come back and just hit post.

I meant the download was reaaaaaally slow thats why i left the room it was taking an age.

I do like dark steel rom btw its very nice and so simple to do

Might be a silly question but i did a titanium backup few days ago, flashed the rom last night, reinstalled titanium backup and it has all my apps/data on there still? How has it manged to keep it, i thought the rom deleted all the data?
 
i just got a galaxy s, from vodafone. I want to set my default homepage, to bbc sport, but it keeps going to vodafone 360 page, no matter what i tell the samsung. How do i fix this ? thankyou

Ok guys please help with my battery life!!!

Dark Steel JP6/JPM, hardly any apps, 1 Exchange account.

I took the phone off charge at around 10am this morning, now at 6.30pm, down to only 16% left!!

Stats:

Display - 77%
Cell Standby - 17%
Phone Idle - 6%

I don't get this, the battery life is awful!! I've hardly used the phone today. Display brightness is set to absolutely minimum. 30 second timeout, and hardly used, so the screen has hardly been on!

Apps I have:

Flash 10.1
SetCPU
Remote Desktop
LauncherPro
Smart Keyboard Pro
ROM Manager
SGS Tools
Spare Parts

Plus the normal Maps, Navigation, Flash.

GPS Off. 1 Exchange account set to Push. Gmail sync turned off. Bluetooth used for around 30 minutes.

Please help me!!!! I've tried 3 different batteries by the way, so it's not that!

How many charge cycles does it need to sort itself out after deleting battery stats (deleted via clockworkmod recovery)?

I think you must have a duff battery.

Mine goes from 0600 to 2200 with the blutooth connected for 8 odd hours, a good half hours internet use, at least an hours worth of calls a dozen or so texts and I havent seen it drop below 50% yet.

Does seem slightly poor to me. You have probably already done this but set all your apps/facebook/etc to sync every 3 hours or more. Also, download an app called Dimmer to lower the brightness of the screen more than the default settings. My phone had similar battery life in the first 2-3 weeks, and now it's much better - I can get about 20+ hours from a charge on medium use.
